What’s in a name?

Well, you know what they say about curiosity…But I’m curious.

**What inspired you with your character name? ** Did you come up with it randomly? Is the name inspired by another character from another source? Did it just sound good?

I usually try to go with real sounding names whenever I’ve named characters. For me it’s a personal thing. Most of my toons have names inspired from Celtic origins. Except Lleona. And nope, it wasn’t inspired from LoL. My logic was pretty simple (or at least it was to me). Leona is Latin for lion…I’m a bit of a history nerd…alliance…paladins are like crusaders…Richard the lion heart.

It’s the first thing I do + shift click your name if you’re annoying in LFD/ LFR etc

Well it’s a good thing that I’m not horde or use LFR or LFD at the moment. :wink:

Honestly, when I came back to WoW I had been watching the first Avengers film…alot lol I knew I was gona go Hunter again and the name Hawk kept popping into my head after Hawkeye from Avengers.

The H at the end is because some nerd already has “Hawk” on my realm :frowning:

I don’t really choose most my character’s name’s myself, this one was just a random thought while I was listening to rxse

Man, I hate it when that happens. :weary: I’m always like “HOW DARE YOU?! That’s my name! “:grin: and Hawkeye is pretty awesome.

Well Moothilda isn’t a name I gave that much thought into… It was impossible to not have a tauren without a pun in it :sweat_smile:

Other names I find from books with mushrooms, fish, birds and butterflies and then I look at their latin name, take the part/meaning I like and if I have to change it so it sounds good when I say it out loud :slight_smile:

I have a draenei hunter where I took the latin name for goat and made it sound more masculine (it’s a male) :slight_smile:
The pet for the hunter is Cossus, that is the name for a moth who’s larva smells like goat :point_left: I gave myself an ekstra cookie because I think that one is clever :smile:

I’m literally disappointed. I genuinely believed that it was a good strong Viking warrior name. :cry:

Kept this name for Draenei Paladin character when I was very new to WoW. Saw Paladin/Light themes, and I absolutely knew “Heaven” had to come in the way somehow.

Rayzens - as Rayzen was taken (probably someone who saw my other character a long time ago on a different server)

Anyway… Rayzen comes from a name i made up for Knight of the Old Republic like 15 years ago or whatever. I needed a cool sounding jedi name.
Full name: Rayzen Starburn

Rayzen - sounding like a combination of Raiden and zen.

Picked Rayzens since Rayzen was taken, i saw it fitting as it sounds like raisins, which is a reference to how saiyans were named after vegetables, Rayzens is a new generation of saiyans. xD

My character name is simply a “trollified” version of Myra / Mira.

Most of my characters have normal “RP names” but I have a few with meme name too, like Lunathicc the night elf demon hunter (Lunatic + Elune + THICC) :sweat_smile:

It was just a random name i made back in BC when i created this char. Not much thought behind it really.

Also I found a Nightborne Magistrix Vilessa in Suramar saying how everyone should die and Elisande should be even more of a tyrant.
At that moment I found a perfect name.

Still thinking about changing in to Serena (my irl name) but I got a max lvl one with that name already >.>

My friend, who showed me the game had an older brother who used to play in vanilla/tbc.

My friend of course has lots of characters of his own, but when he showed me the game and let me try creating a character one afternoon, we tried the name i used on Runescape at the time but that was unavailable.

So he simply took ‘‘Dreamcore’’ wich was my friends, brothers, undead priests name, and changed the C to a K, and so my first ever toon ‘‘Dreamkore’’ the blood elf mage back in like 2008 or whatever was created.

I’ve used lots of aliases for my characters over the years, but this is the one i have the closest connection to simply because it was my first alias.
