What’s up with Xalatath

I honestly don’t really understand modern WoW lore tbh.

What does the Dark Heart even do? Why is Xal’atath pulling a Jailer 2.0 by being so vague about her motives, and why is she also pulling a Vyranoth when the big bad is threatening the world she joins the good guys? I just don’t get this character.

This patch’s story seems fine overall other than Alleria acting like a baby when her psycho stalker is trying to save the entire universe from an extinction event. Hopefully the final boss cinematic won’t be awful like it’s been since BFA and will give some exposition and an idea what to look forward to.

Absorb a poopton of energy. The Dark Heart also houses or housed Galakronds corruption. And after the raid it also houses the power of a void lord apparently

She has stated she isnt an ally. She only works with us because she hates the Void Lords and only wants to see Dimensius dead. We arent friends. She also flat out betrays us at the end of the raid

Spoilers that are assumed from the trailer and its timestamps regarding the end of the raid: Dimensius dies. Locus Walker gets killed by Xalatath. Xalatath leaves with the Dark Heart.

Takes any energy, stores it, and turns it into void energy. This was explained during TWW’s prologue.

Because she’s planning to betray us once Dimensius is defeated, we’ve learned that Xal’atath hates Dimensius due to various reasons, and Xal’atath wants to finish the job. I believe she also wants the essence of Dimensius to become a mighty void lord.

Well Alleria is going to go off and get her Sister who knows the voids weakness per the guy from the MAW line that he knew of it due to his time there.

Xalatath is only ever out for herself. She will use whoever she needs to to reach her goals. That includes the Alliance and Horde.

Sooo… not a villain then. More like an anti-hero.

Screams villain to me.

VILLAIN!!! :upside_down_face: done!

How about Illidan :stuck_out_tongue:

“he will use whoever he needs to to reach his goals.”

Xalatath is a well designed character that has a style of writing attached to her personality. The void is all about this idea that there are infinite truths, so it’s a thematic choice I think to give her an ambivalent way of speaking

I have that cognitive dissonance in the making since I’ve been working with her.

The OPs name though.

Well she did destroy Dalaran. I almost forgot since it still exists.

MCU millenials writing.

The Dark Heart is a device capable of converting various cosmic energies into Void energy—a transmutation that seems to be the Harbinger’s specialty. Normally, Void beings can only consume, but she has mastered the art of transforming different entities and energies. We have seen her convert Void to Arcane, as with the Ethereals, and Arcane to Void, as in the case of Dalaran.

As for the current events, I must quote another of my favourite settings: If I must choose between the lesser and the greater evil, I would rather not choose at all.

its called bad stroytelling .

as we see now - there was a very very good reason why they fired Metzen when they did.

bringing him bad just hurt the story
