What addon provider are you using?

Is overwolf still hated or did it become better? I’ve been using wowup but now they don’t have any addons and I’m just wondering if there is a better option than just manually downloading.

I’m using the new CurseForge client that doesn’t require Overwolf.

It’s not quite what we had before Overwolf yet, but it’s slowly getting there.

Previous clients have also had ads in them in them, but this time the revenue is actually shared with addon creators. And we get to use all the features for free, without paying a sub which we had to in the past.

Edit:
I’ve not had much experience with Overwolf or their client in the past so idk if they’re utterly evil and in league with the saucer people, but so far their client works reasonably well.

I do vaguely remember using the Overwolf client for chat overlay for TS a million years ago, it was quite a hassle and rarely worked properly. Thankfully we have Discord for that now… :stuck_out_tongue:

I always have manually downloaded. Saved me from a lot of issues.

I just manually download updates when something stops working.

ElvUI and DBM are good at letting me know when they are badly behind. Everything else tends to just keep working unless it is a whole new expansion launch. I think people overestimate how important addon updates are…

Does it do what you want it to do? Then you don’t need to worry. It’s not Windows 10, there’s not a dozen security flaws patched every week. If an addon works for you, it works for you. Feel free to occasionally read about what’s new on the big ones, but don’t sweat the little stuff.

I just use the Overwolf one. Not had any problems with it at all.

WowUp, and now 95% of my addons won’t receive updates. Will have to update them manually when they stops working properly.
