I’m aware that this might be discussion rather for wowinterface or curseforge site because most players here will goes with response like “None. The game is best without addons.” which is valid opinion, yet I’m curious about opinion of players who do use convenient addons without completely overhauling the default UI and just miss those that can’t work on modern version of the game or they could work but nobody took the effort to port them over to Classic.
For me it’s addons which functionality was eventually implemented into default UI like Cartographer ZoneInfo/Cromulent for example.
While definitely not necessary for playing the game and there is ZoneInfo Classic, which display even more information as substitute, it’s just not the same and ZoneDetails was never updated for BC let alone WotLK Classic and I just miss the info displayed next to/below the zone name on the map.
Another addon which is kinda shame it wasn’t revived for Classic is PaperDollFrame Stats, and again it does have substitutes, but DejaClassicStats is just port of Retail Character Panel adjusted for Classic and Extended Character Stats while at least more Cataclysm-like have issue that it does not display additional info when you hover the cursor over the stats.
What I miss probably the most however is the DrDamage addon. Again, no addon is necessary to play the game (or at least shouldn’t be), however it’s more convenient to have the info about spell cost and average heal/damage output displayed on action bar instead of just in the tooltip.
Simple, Lightheaded. I really do miss this the most and it’s hard to play without it.
Sure I can make things easy by using Questie, and just following the dots like an automatron, but I hate playing that way, I like to read the descriptions and work things out for myself. Lightheaded gives me the opportunity to look at what other players thought about the quest I’m doing. If I’m unsure about something I can see how others solved it, the methods they used. I actually find it interesting to read.
Now I’ve no choice but to laboriously alt+tab to WoWHead, which I guess is Ok but it takes me out of the game and breaks my immersion.
And if you look at the first comment in WoWhead for the quest ‘Scare the guano out of them’ you’ll get a chuckle as an added bonus.
One to remove all the Retail (and other QoL) thingies Blizz has put into the game.
That aside I miss Ackis Recipe list, which was a thing in OG Wrath and never since.

I’d pay good money for an addon that did that, or failing that one that inserted a giant nob onto the head of any person riding a boost or cash shop mount.
The addon to mute annoying pricks trying to troll players in Dalaran with the chopper bike. An addon that might still exist that I’m going to try out later.
After a guy yesterday spending an entire evening just jumping on the bike making as much noise as possible, it really made me look for it! It’s called “Mute Annoying WoW Sounds”.
Are those people who stand in the middle of the Dalaran fountain on their massive mammoths to stop people fishing for coins still a thing? I remember those from original Wrath.
Yeah, the modern way of displaying location of every quest mob and object on the map is maybe way too easy and kinda encourage players to skip reading the quest text and just go to the location highlighted on map.
Some quests on the other hand are deliberately vague in description when talking to NPC.
I remember when I played WoW for the first time decades ago during original BC, I found myself not smart enough to do “A Job for an Intelligent Man”.
Playing as hunter I had fixed within to not go into melee range with anything and also my English being just terrible back then, I just couldn’t figure out what I am exactly supposed to target let alone attack for that quest.
When I played BC Classic, it was completely different experience from back then.
Can you elaborate more on what functionality of those addons are you missing, because unlike some other, both Bartender and Dominos are being constantly updated for both Retail and Classic.
I miss VCB( Vanilla Consolidate Buff-Frames ).
Being able to consolidate buffs that were sort of wasting space on screen since you didn’t really need to see them or you used a weakaura for so they were just duplicate (basically 100% guaranteed to have during the raid)
Legit one of the best addons that was possible on the original client.
From my understanding Blizzard removed the functionality required for it to work in the modern client.
RaidRoll. The ability to type “roll for [item]” and it would pop a window with the item link and all the rolls for that specific item. You would also have a history for all the items you rolled out. Such a great addon.
