What are your must have addons?

For me, its TRP, emote splitter and listener. WIM is a good help to make sure whispers are seperate, too, so i am not as easily lost.

For content, I’d be lost without tomtom. DBM likewise is a big help.

TRP only. Not even extended. I never needed anything else.

TRP, Cross RP and Listener. I considered Emote Splitter for a while, then realized that if I can’t fit my emote or message into the default character limit then I’m doing something wrong (with the exception of DMing an event). There are enough people writing purple prose of them lighting a cigarette, swinging their sword or unloading their life story in 6 paragraphs, blotting out every other message from 3 minutes earlier.

For RP:

  • TRP and Cross RP, since our guild is cross-faction.
  • Prat is pretty useful for convenience with chat timestamps and the ability to copy links.
  • Misspelled, mainly because it catches any mistakes and helps me improve my grammar.
  • Emote Splitter which helps me not with the occasional huge emote during events (Like Hatescale above) but also keep the conversation flowing without having to make several /say deposits and cause any confusion when people are already typing because they think my character has said her piece.

For PvE:

  • DMB because I haven’t the time to study every boss before their encounter. And we all know how understanding random pugs can be when you enter an instance for the first time.
  • KuiNameplates + Target Helper so I can easily find a mob in a crowd.
  • Details! Damage Meter, so I can see whether my rotation plays out well and whether I can improve on my DPS. Also to chase that high of being top DPS. >:)

I should really give Listener a try! During big gatherings I get spammed to oblivion and that makes it hard to keep track of anyone. Nice forum post, Alysithra!

TRP and Listener for me  I like it basic. TRP for the roleplay profiles. Listener helps me alot in big gatherings and big events, something I used to struggle with and often still get anxious over because of risking missing things.

For role-playing purposes it’s most crucially TRP. I do have TRP extended, but I can honestly count the times I’ve used that on one hand.

Other than that I also use emote-splitter, which is a godsend when you’re on a creative roll, and listener… sometimes. Honestly I haven’t used the latter nearly often enough for it to feel familiar to me, so I tend to only dust it off during larger gatherings.

In terms of gameplay it’s down to DBM, Handynotes and a coordinate addon. I’m a fullblood casual, so even Details - which I do have installed - rarely sees the light of day.

TRP3 + Extended for basic must-have RP utilities, Listener because it’s a godsent for my ADHD, Emote Splitter so I don’t have to break up the occasional large chunk of text myself, WeakAuras to warn me about tongue pots / prisms running out of time, Elephant for a decent chatlog functionality.

I have a couple more, but these lot are my important RP-related addons!

For RP:

  • TRP3 (Extended though I dn’t use that).
  • Emotesplitter.
  • CrossRP.

PVE/etc:

  • DBM.
  • AllTheThings.
  • Announce Rare.
  • Can I mog it?
  • CollectMe.
  • Details!
  • Elephant (good for RP too).
  • ElvUI + Windtools.
  • H.H.T.D.
  • HandyNotes + optionals.
  • Hide Clean Up Bags Button.
  • LustDetector.
  • Mogit.
  • Narcissus.
  • NeedToKnow.
  • OmniCC.
  • Postal.
  • Prat.
  • Quest Completist.
  • RareScanner.
  • Rarity.
  • SavedInstances.
  • SilverDragon.
  • Titan panel.
  • TomTom.
  • TradeSkillMaster.
  • WeakAuras.
  • Zperl.

Lots.

No MUST haves, but a few nice to haves.

TRP, Listener, UnlimitedChatMessage, Prat, Misspelled, and KUI Nameplates with its TRP plugin that displays the person’s TRP name above the head like so:

MRP, CrossRP, Bagnon, Bartender, Zperl unitframes…

Thats it, apparently I am one of the rare few MRP users, but I like its simplicity :weary:

For roleplay, all of my favourites have already been listed by others – TRP3 is a necessity, as are the likes of Listener and Emote Splitter/UCM. I think I have TRP Extended but honestly I don’t recall.

Regarding message character limit extending addons, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using extended or flowery prose. It all comes down to your preference and the preferences of those around you.

Of course, for the sake of readability, cutting down on the elaboration is necessary when in group situations, but even then I don’t think there’s an inherent need to chop it down to a bare sentence or two if that doesn’t convey what you’re going for.

There’s no right or wrong way to approach emote length.

has that been updated at all? Stopped using it in WoD because it was always out of date (use Elephant now myself)

It works fine and dandy for me!

I’d like to attend crowded events myself and neutral events. So Listener is indeed one recommendation at the top of my list.

I’d also like to use WIM, (WoW Instant Messenger). This makes whisper chats pop up in their own chat window. This way you don’t have to scroll back. to see if you’ve missed one during these crowded sessions.

I’m not sure if this is still valid but I still have Cross RP, from when crossed guilds were not a thing yet.

(and of course those stated above, TRP3/ Extendend, Misspelled & Emote Splitter.)
