What didn't you like about a specific expansion?

I liked pandaland because it was not the same boring faction bullcrap well until garrosh had to come and ruin it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m glad you asked.
So.

  1. No-fly no-mount in covenant sanctum (NF); reasoning unknown;
  2. No-fly no-mount in the Maw 1.0;
  3. No-fly in Korthia;
  4. Entire esthetics of Maldraxus; zombies, skeletons, corpses, plagues, all this sick necro stuff;
  5. “Volumetric fog” 3D effect all around Bastion that drops FPS to single digit;
  6. Landscape design of Revendreth; its extremely hard to navigate around without flying not spending some time pondering how to get from A to B; map isnt helping either; same applies to ANY zome from SL and BFA, but Revendreth is worst of all;
  7. Korthia forced labor camp; yes, exactly, because to level up soulbinds to 252 I HAD to do all dailies to buy that RNG upgrade stone, and for some unfortunate reason, my best soulbinds was upgraded LAST; chests disappearing right after you manage to get near it through all those roots and bushes and slippery slopes;
  8. Zereth Mortis, entirely; SWARMS of flying aggros, all those rapturas birds and wasps literally everywhere, chasing you around at slow speed, then biting you with gore and you fly/run away splashing blood everywhere, take that player, you wanted fly but no rep grind, take that! AND ESPECIALLY Endless Sands, this is absolutely hideous place, with all those mawswarm flyers DISMOUNTING you in flight and you fall down into pack of 180K hp elites, then guess what.
  9. Almost every gather node or chest has “a guardian” aggro nearby, almost impossible to just gather without annoying interruption; its not like I’m making thousands of gold on auction, just let me pick that flower in peace for that silly potion I most likely will never use;
  10. The Maw, entirely, especially v 1.0 with 200K HP elites patrolling around and Eye of the Jailer debuff; if I wanted a game with constant feel of dread, I’d play Dead Space or some other horror survival;
  11. Dungeons, all of them; this became special olympics - DPS aggring packs before tank, skips, you know what I’m saying; I decided to level up my alts doing world quests and events, its much slower, but saves me nerves;
  12. Planned obsoleteting content; I want some transmog from Nathria or Sanctum, how do I get those? I DONT! And never will! Anybody remember that big muchroom in NF sanctum we grinded rep in prev patches? Where is he now and where our time and efforts went, to what result or benefit?
  13. Very time-consuming for non-tanks and no-sneak classes - must fight through everything everywhere, and survival is not guaranteed, and I hate dying, especially to wandering pack that hit me in the back while I fend off some another mob; this happens way too frequently to be occacional, I believe its designed with purpose to screw me over at every step, delay my progress, keep me “busy”;
  14. Mission table; still havent figured out how it works, abandoned; WOD was better, Legion was decent too, BFA not so much, SL total garbage;
  15. The Maw 2.0, is anybody actually wisiting Beastwarrens now for whatever reason? Except for killing that one weekly purple mob (you have to wait to even get a group);
  16. Oribos and its layout, no-fly no-mount zones, walls covering view, must always look at the map to confirm where I am and where I need to go; whats the big deal making no-fly no-mount zones anyway? We could fly in BFA in rest areas and it was comfy and nobody got hurt!
  17. Professions still irrelevant;
  18. The Story; what exactly is ‘anima’, why are there only 4 covenants and not 5 or 6? Who is this Jailer guy, is he more powerful that anyone we fought so far, Old Gods, The Legion, Bobby Kotick’s fat mom? What is ‘locus’? This all is so confusing, I dont even pay attention to quests descriptions, just doing what is required to complete, I dont have time and intellectual capacity to truly enjoy “THE DEEP” of storyline; also, I dont like boy-king he alway has a face as if he’s going to burst into tears; whats this ‘Afterlife’ realm, is everybody go to this place after death? Even dragons? Or dragons have no souls? Go figure.
  19. “Borrowed powers”; HOW EXACTLY can I know which covenant is best for my class at the start of expansion? Why option to change covenants appears ingame only later and not present at the start of expansion? Why I cant see with ingame methods ALL soulbinds to make informed decision? Why not just expand talent tree and make it possible to “level up” tiered talents with daily/weekly or some other kind of activity? Why changing covenants is not entirely free, you provide me with little info beforehand, then you tweak/adjust soulbinds that directly affect my playstyle, and it is I who must pay to change YOUR mistakes?
    PS.
  20. Some part of “the community” and unclear “rules”; they just now silenced me for a week because some fragile individuals found my rare-announcer script way too much abusive (it says in /1 chat “rarename just said your mom is fat” with coords so everybody can rush in and participate in the kill; I’ve been using it for years, in both BFA and SL, and more often than not we got witty replies raising morale for everybody, well not anymore I guess :slight_smile:

This is not all, I might remember something later, but the list can go on long time.

Now, what I DO like in this expansion:

  1. 32 slot bags without need to grind H/M dungeons with low RNG or wait for proper world quest to appear or rely on other players to provide (sell) ingredients.

For me and i know this sounds strange… But i didn’t like most expansions since Wrath of the lich king all the way to Legion. Because between those expansions I didn’t do any endgame content and I didn’t feel like I could.

It was raid or die and you needed gearscore, Kinda like todays job applications requirements. You needed to have raided to get into raiding… Since i hadn’t since classic. I just gave up on it all. So i ended up only Roleplaying and do casual random bgs. Id get the gear open world content and random battlegrounds would give me.

But rp wise as well as an Alliance player back then. I felt as if most of the expansions since wrath of the lich king until Legion where about the Horde and very horde themed.
Orcs orcs and more orcs always about orcs front and center everywhere…

All the armor and new things to look for always seemed intended to fit the Horde eastetic.

But that all changed in Legion when the Alliance stopped being a side character to the Horde’s identity crisis in Legion. And in Bfa both our factions got some cool mogs and armor to look forward too as well.

Then vulpera and the rest is history. :b As someone who played wow for years who felt like playing a faction neglected by blizzard though. I don’t envy that on the Horde. Not the Horde players fault Blizzard took the direction they did back then. But that is why to answer this question i pretty much disliked every expansion since Wrath of the Lich king until Legion.

Shadowlands, story became a full joke to a point where i dont even wanna raid anymore cause i dont give a fk about beating the big bad guy. Systems garbage, twinking is a pain in my butt.

WL is so broken, there is no sense in twinking cause why the fk would you wanna do 20% less dmg in M+

Mists - pandas … just why? I hate em.
WoD - garrisons… they were so boring… functional but boring.
Legion - random acquisition of legendaries.
BFA - Warfronts and Islands… azerite armor was ok at the end.
SL - covenants, conduits, soulbinds, torghast (Still want beta version back) dungeon design is a step back compared to BFA. I think the SL dungeon bosses are better tho.

I’ve enjoyed all of the expacs exept shadowlands to be honest. Even the very controversial ones.
Shadowlands however… On the surface the zones look great, art team always does an amazing job, but once you get past that, it’s just horrible. The lore is terrible. They should never have touched the afterlife experience. It made the whole aspect of different cultures worshipping their individual dieties and expecting a particular spiritual afterlife utterly pointless.
The whole theme of the realm of the dead being run by automotons was just a bad concept.
I can normally see past bad systems or lack of content, by just enjoying everything else the game has to offer, through past expacs, but this is the only expac, where I’ve took a break a few times, because I simply cannot immerse myself in to the world

ye but your a MHP so your opinion is clearly irrelevant;)

The past three expacs have had terrible user unfriendly dungeons and other instances. So bad I cannot even look at them.

That underwater raid killed it for me. The ashara one… Dont know what these new ones are like. I assume they are as bad because they have the same people working on them to overcomplicate everything.

It seems to me that the only good time to buy a wow expac is on the very last patch when the story is complete and the game is what it should of been closer to at launch.

  • TBC: started very late, so couldn’t really say something

  • Wotlk: my favorite expansion… Nothing to complain

  • cata : destroyed my fun with paladin, stopped playing because of it…

  • mop: liked it mostly for the PvP

  • wod: great raids, but not enough content

  • legion : was fun and the AP grind wasn’t
    so bad as everyone says, the catch-up mechanic was very strong for alts.
    Only the legendary loot was horrible.

  • BFA: hated azerite and corruption before vendor.

-SL: hate the story so much, even though I don’t care mostly about it over the other xpacs, but this one is just Garbage.
The whole covenant system, conduits, shards , the time gating…
The dungeons… The loot scarcity… Legacy raid scaling is a joke… The balancing…

SL is by far the worst expansion for me

Hmm,I don’t know how it was before Shadowlands…But in Shadowlands the M+flow does not entertain me 100%.Pull packs -aoe-pull packs-aoe-Boss.
I was playing TBC where we used Crowd control and we were not rushing at all.
I also like the Garison feature in Draenor expansion which is not in Shadowlands.
Ok. i may be off-topic.

I feel its more of a let down for Horde and Alliance to be friends. but hey, I guess I’m a WoW purest.
