Without thinking about numbers on the meter. What dk spec do you prefer that fits the dk theme the best? Im talking about flavour. For me, I like to play frost to bring that icy chill to my enemies it gives me a lich king Northrend feel but also the idea of raising and controlling undead scourge to fight for me.
I think all three are very integral to the thematic of death knight. All three have things that have been essential to them even as far back as Warcraft 2 Death Knights.
When it comes to the execution of these themes, though, I wish all three had a bit more on display when it came to special effects. For example, I would love it if there was more to show how ‘unholy’ Unholy is beyond just raising undead, like more diseases and such.

Frost and Unholy are pretty much tied to me in regards to this, I think both are vital components of what makes a Death Knight. Blood, not so much. I still like it, but it’s not as core as the other two. Though I think ultimately the winner has to be frost for that Arthas larp.
Personally an Unholy fan RP wise but content I gotta hand it to Frost, feels a bit more MEATY to me.
For me, it’s gotta be unholy, because it really emphasises the unholiness of the class, in lack of a better word. Sure, Frost is good for the Arthas larp, but anyone can freeze popsicle. That’s an important part of Mage, and to a degree Shaman as well. Unholy just really brings in the sheer vileness of the DK, imo.

I think the way they were introduced in WotLK, frost comes to mind instantly to me, personally.
But if I had to pick thematically, I’d also go for unholy, I think. They’re kinda necromancers in plate armor, that covers it the best, imho.
Unholy in legion was the best Unholy was in all aspects, feel, gameplay, fantasy.
buttons where many but not INSANE, you had your pets but also respectable disease and wounds that people feared etc etc.
I’m a frost man but legion Unholy almost made me switch. Then BFA unholy came and i just died inside.
Thematically I completely agree with the cubeneck panda - Unholy is so good! 'Cuz DKs are often associated with rot, deceases, and mindless zombie minions. But overall I think all specs have some cool gimmicks. Great versatile class all around.
Blood is best.
Unholy heralds back to the WC3 DK the most - raising ghouls and death coils galore.
Blood is best because vampires are sexy, and blood DK is the closest way to get to that.
For me personally it’s a tie between Frost and Unholy equally.
When thinking of DKs mind obviously wanders to Arthas, who thematically falls closer to frost than unholy, but the amount of raised dead is just unholys thing so.

Worst part about frost is the artifact was dual wield mandatory instead of Frostmourne.
