I recently unlocked Zandalari and want to turn this DK into one, but I don’t want to pay the ridiculous money for a race change when I can just delete the character and remake it as a Zandalari.
What would / could I lose in doing so though? Besides attachment to the character and /played time.
Gear, gold, bank contents, currencies, Void Storage contents.
Who deletes a 115 character? Unless you have 49 other characters and all of them are 120, that’s a pretty bad idea. Just make a new one.
Of course gear and other miscellaneous items in your bags. But with Shadowlands incoming lost gear is not something to worry about because it will be replaced while leveling. Other than that not much really: Mounts, pets, transmogs etc are all accountbound so it’s really easy to switch character if you want that.
Well its Mainly non-Essential Stuff.
if we’re talking progression wise, as ur not 120 you wont have any System progression your going to lose… its simply you’ll have to redo your time Levelling to where you are… which will simply just delay your time at the end content
but given we’re not far off Prepatch and SL Launch… i wouldnt call it vital.
From giving up a 115 character that hasn’t been your main in previous expansions? Nothing really.
Just don’t delete the character?
You lose everything on your character ie gold, gear, currencies, character-specific achievements (think there are still some around), profession progress and so on.
Personally I would just make the zandalari troll separately so you don’t have to delete anything, but if you’re serious about this I suggest you strip the character for parts so to speak. I must warn you that if you do this the character will be effectively unrecoverable.
Vendor everything on your character and in your bags: sell your bags too. Anything you don’t want to sell save for step to.
Mail all your gold and any items you want to keep which are not soulbound to another character, ideally your main. Once you send this and pay the mail fee you should have no money on this character.
Check you have not missed any items to sell. Your character should be naked and without any sellable items in its bag, or any money.
Log out and delete your character
Like I said, don’t delete this character until you’re sure you want to. Make a zandalari death Knight beforehand and see how it feels. If you want to use it then strip your character and send the money to the zandalari. I hope you enjoy your character, be it a new one or if you have reconsidered deleteing this one.
Ive always used the character name on this one, and I don’t like the idea of having two DK’s capped (when I cap this one) but mostly its the name
transfer all reagents, gold none bop items to another character delete the one whos name you want and all you lose is bop items however much it is to send all items and the levels from 55 to 115 oh and also any bags bank slots yoiu purchase void storage and whatnot
You can force a name change by deleting the character, creating a new one with the same name and then restoring the character, AFAIK.
Doesn’t work like that
They closed the loophole some time ago.
The only really notable things are repuation, non-tradable currencies and unshareabe achievement progress, potentially some character only titles.
Maybe a little sanity if it is to be another DK.
Aww. So what happens when you do it now?
It tells you, you already have a character with that name and doesn’t let you undelete it until the other one is gone or renamed.
Can’t do that anymore.
Do you have many exalted reputations on this character? If not just reroll, otherwise I would race change imho.

As everyone else said. Don’t delete old character until your absolutely sure… Could always start farming gold then use wow tokens to fund a race change.
Just make a new character called Klý or Klÿ or something
