I personally rly like healing, but I just cant make myself to main anything but disc, because every healer is some cosplay of environmental activist or gods fiend, not even mentioning the pseudo dragon attempt. I dont like it. The only fantasy Im willing to play is disc, because its something like “the end justify the means”, so its somewhat neutral, but my problem is that if disc sux like all the time lately, I just dont have a reason to play the game. For example something like death knights from warcraft 3 or some kind of necromanacer pumping some unholy heals. Would you like to have something more metal or dark than the current versions? I would jump for it, no questions asked. Im kinda bored of all the nature and holy healing fantasy.

I think for many people it’s simply a role they don’t like or they don’t want that kind of responsibility. Your suggestion sounds pretty cool tho, I’m sure it would appeal to some! I think the animations could do a lot to bring it to life properly, a bit like penance used to do for disc with making people twitch whenever it hit them. It might drag in some people who are currently not drawn to playing healers, if they could unleash wholesome suffering on their allies.
I agree with that many ppl just dont like any responsibility, but for example I play healers, because I dont have to keep all the gear 110% maxed, I dont have to wait 30-60mins in ques. I can take a break and still get invites with few weeks of being behind. And honestly every time I get back to the game after a long break, I get invites without knowing any particular strategies or what Im even supposed to do. Its far from tank level of responsibilities. You just have to deal with everything your donuts refuse to deal with, but if one isnt sure, just pick a reactive healer and its just fine, no stress. Basically as dps you deal with enemies, as healer you deal with the donuts. I just wish the choices of a cool healing specs were a bit wider.
I Healed and Tanked as a Sith in SW:ToR and you can’t find darker than that
Trust me it is not the “atmosphere” of the class
But the fact healing and Tanking is a thankless job - and indeed it is a job
You ave responsibilities
People want to have fun and play, not a job and responsibility
necromancer type of healer would be a fresh addition and i’d love that but i don’t think it would attract more people, maybe just spread other healers .
They should fix mistweaver and holy priest before attempting to add another healer.
It could work. Not sure it would bring in more healers but it sounds like it could be fun.
Yep. Having played healers mostly throughout the years, I can only agree. It’s a very fun job with fun people, and a quite terrible one with not fun people. When I play dps there’s an unencumbered feel to it compared.
I’ve met quite a few people who had never played healers throughout the years, and for them it all just looking ‘rather girly’ (their words, not mine ) was one of the turn offs. I have no idea whether a darker and spikier version might change some minds.
A mage healing spec would be neat. Heals with time magic!
Am I a joke to you?
I would love a dark themed healer.
Right now mistweaver is the only healer in the game that isnt completely lame thematically.
I used to like discs theme. But then they got rid of shadow mend. At that point the spec no longer felt like a shadow/ light healer. Just a light healer.
I mean… yeah, kind of
I mean, look at your visuals. You think you are not?
I’d like DH to have a healer spec. Being able to sacrifice members of your group to save ‘more important’ members would be so much fun
While I would be absolutely up for that, I dont think normies would mentally handle to be deemed less worthy than others. Instead of daily dose of “punish leavers” posts, we would get mandatory “punish healers, who disrespect me” posts, heh. I already know I would sacrifice my hunters on cd!
Thanks for that!
It’s funny as many npc throughout various expansions have abilities like “Shadow Mend” or other similar dark sounding healing abilities.
I think in terms of fantasy it’s an absolute must. Now in terms of execution, I’d like it to be something different than just “healing but dark purple” or “puke green”.
What gameplay implications could this have? Would a spec that needs to do damage in order to heal, work? I remember in vanilla, shadow priests were doing all sorts of mini heals through their aggressive abilities.
Could we be looking at another hybrid support role? Part DPS part healer type thing? Different to augvokers ofc… But also, more healer oriented than ret paladin or enh shaman. Or maybe it’s a healer that heals but then has to juggle some kind of debuff, balance out some negative effect. This would be for more experienced players though I’d imagine.
This could be achieved with class skins too I guess… Looks so odd having freaking Eredar’s casting holy light spells… Imagine if they could be “fel priests” or so.
But yeah, Necromancer, Fel healer, vampire healers … Mad scientist/engineer healer?!
Nope.
Only healing type themes I’d consider are ‘tinker-esque type healing based on technology’ (injections, salves, flask bombs and whatnot) and ‘nature/beast themed healing’ a bit like druids but less plant based and more animal based.
I’d love the spec so much more if THAT was the brewmaster spec.
But I agree in that mistweaver has been the only healer that appealed to me in Legion - not so much later though because I didn’t like the changes they made to the spec in BfA.
Necromancer with minions as a compromise?!
Definitely not. Necromancer does not appeal to me at all.
I don’t like edgelord type classes.
I love edgelord classes. I guess we cant reach a compromise then.
