What do you think of this shadow priest spec for pvp in Dragonflight?

Hey there, just wanted to through this build out and get some feedback on it - pvp wise.

Talent tree link: https://www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/priest/shadow/BQAAQFgGgVQUkEKSgUAOVRUVVUVEQEIKBUBE

I’m trying to reach a heavy dot / spread build. The burst is basicly to mindgames > mindflay > spam mindblasts with synergizes well with the talent that prevents damege done by the target hit by mindblast.

The spec revolves around not speccing into void form and using mind trauma as a pvp talent.

Might this work, and bring back some core dot gameplay for SP?

Not a chance. With current tuning levels all the apparition talents are completely wasted points, and not taking both puppet master and angelic feather in the class tree feels wrong, especially when what you are taking is stuff like crystalline reflection.

Voidform, HV, and AM (Though maybe not AM for PvP) are pretty much the strongest 3 points on the entire shadow tree. Regardless of whether you like that gameplay or not, it’s true, and you’re dropping them for 2x Unleash the Shadows and 1x Void apparitions which are both as of right now less than 50 dps each (And you’d get even less out of them because you don’t have voidform or AM to make more apparitions.)

Hopefully the talent trees revealed for priest see significant revisions so we have choices and playstyle options, but as the tree is now some points are so bad / ill conceived you’re pretty much wasting points talenting into them.

Hej, thx for reply, appreciate it

I see, hmm, had high hopes for a more dot cleave focused playstyle and more tanky with the crystalline reflection :frowning:

I hope the tree will get a lot better. Why are so many last talents that weak? I really don’t get the logic behind it. Had hoped it was stronger. Maybe a tuning problem?

It’s more than a tuning problem, sure you could any number of zeros to a talent and make it do good numbers, but really it comes down to Blizzard’s lack of direction with Shadow priest.

It’s a dot spec but dots seem to have been sidelined hard in the past few expansions, it’s supposed to be some sort of void cultist playing with insanity but the blizzard weren’t interested in putting in the effort to maintain that playstyle, it’s also supposed to be part of priest yet feels completely separate from both the roles of the other two specs (because they are healers) but also their themes.

Right now Shadow feels more like a collection of spells and mechanics that exist together than anything coherent.

I have to agree. I have no clue what the fantasy / direction is anymore :frowning:

I hope for the best. I really hope for dot style again. Maybe aff lock it is.
