I’m going to cook up the perfect “Adventurer” character once the Trading Post is released with Patch 10.0.5, using Hoods, Cloaks, and all sorts of low-fantasy gear.
But for the life of me, I can’t decide which Race and Class combination best illustrates what an Adventurer is.
Here’s what I’m thinking so far:
Gameplay will be focused on World Content, Professions and so on. So it’s useful if it’s an agile and flexible character.
Ideally, it feels a bit down-to-earth. I suppose no Class is entirely off the table, but let’s just say that I think a Rogue feels more appropriate than a Death Knight. (Willing to have my mind changed!)
Needs to be able to wear transmogs that look low-fantasy, like Cloaks, Hoods, Capes, Belts, Boots and so on.
Could be either Male or Female, but I lean a little bit towards Female because of how much I adore characters like Rey Palpatine (Star Wars), Joule Adams (Xbox game ReCore), April Ryan (The Longest Journey), etc.
Could be either Horde or Alliance, but I definitely lean Alliance because that’s where I keep all of my characters currently.
My favourite Classes thematically are Paladin, Hunter and Druid. For for the purpose of this exercise, I think Hunter, Rogue, Warrior, Mage, and Monk may be some of the most “Adventurer”-like Classes.
For me it has to be either a warrior or hunter and if you have it, the RAF explorer’s set. Alternatively a priest due to the cloth they can wear you could play like a pilgrimager who helps whomever they find because that is just the nature of a humble priest.
I think the darnassus night elf has to be an adventure, they do not have home any longer. Must adventure to create a new tree now. Any class probably warrior because adventurers need to fight a bear and fall off a cliff and eat poison berry.
My main here is my perfect adventurer.
As a hunter she would be likely to be out in the wilderness exploring and as a Pandaren she would def have the wanderlust needed and want to travel.
I even tried to go for the most basic adventurer transmog I could find!
TBF though anything would work if you can create a good enough backstory. For example a mechagnome in search of the perfect technology or a death knight who wanders the world because they feel like they have lost their purpose.
I almost think its better if you have a unique reason for being an adventurer!
Your excitement warms my heart and i 100% support this, it’s healthy, there’s nothing wrong about this new feature, go for it tiger!
And for your question about adventurer, in my opinion and from my experiences what i’ve seen in game, the most important and key factor that tells me “ye this guy is a true adventurer”, is his or her behavior.
If you can sell me the character by proper talking and behavior, i don’t care what race or class you are, you are a proper adventurer.
I mean think about it guys. Remember pre patch when we were boarding those explorers from dragonscale expedition? We talked to like 4 characters, and they were all perfect! Not because of their appearance, it was in the way they performed.
So what adventurer is to me?
Curious character. Someone who’s excitet from little things like some sort of quest items, mysterious objects. Someone who’s actually reading quest lines and listening to dialogs. Someone who’s constantly trying to learn about history of Azeroth, someone who i cam visit with some unknown object with a question “what is that?” And he or she will tell me everything known about that object! Someone who wants to discover the darkest places of Azeroth just to find more about old gods and titans, deepest parts of oceans just to learn more about Nagas, this is a perfect adventurer to me. And he or she can be BDK, Retri, Fury, male or female, undead or human, i don’t care. As long as you keep within your character, you’re adventurer to me .
I have alot of Race/Class combo that could be adventurers. My favurite one?
Human/Dwarf Brewmaster Monk.
Monks have 1 weapon: Fu-zan, that looks like someone who goes around the world weapon.
Monks use Leather, one of the best (imo) armours to wear for low-fantasy transmogs.
For professions: Fishing and Cooking (Duh), Herbalism, since they are Travelers, they could pick some food along the way or ingredients, and Skinning, since they could collect skins to make armours or Sell them for some coins at a village to buy something for his next travel.
(Also, for tents there is the “Gnoll tent” who has a 2 minute CD and lasts 3 minutes. if you add the Tuskarr or Centaurs campfire in front of it. a cushion or something you char can sleep on. You created a small camp.)
It’s a gnome, I tried to make this toon look a bit adventurous! I’m not a fan of over saturated sparkle so I went pretty basic with gear … except my sword coz well it’s a lightsaber!
