What does it specifically mean? For example as a blood DK I’m looking at a weapon and the strength is greyed out?? And the crit is green?
Grey means it doesn’t help your character, at least in its current spec. In Warlords? or Legion? Blizzard started adding multi-class gear, like Plate with both Strength and Intellect.
However, Strength is your primary stat as a DK, so seeing it grey mkes no sense. What exactly is the weapon? Can you put up a screenshot on Imgur or something?
Secondary stats are now green, since around the same time. I have zero idea why they did this, but they did.
Some gear is multipurpose now. Instead of giving you a selection of items with primary stats tuned for different classes and specs, there’s a far more limited selection; but the items themselves change to suit your character, somewhat.
For example, say you get some gear for a paladin. Then you change spec from holy to protection.
That gear will then move spec with you and use the primary stats that your current spec needs at the cost of the other stats you now don’t need. In a Paladin’s case, it’ll move from “Intellect” to “Strength” as it moves from ‘Holy’ to ‘Protection’ or vice versa.
