I started to play this game to be with my RL friend who I kept not seeing, because he was addicted to WoW.
I started to play with this character I am posting on, as a trial character until level 20.
I loved this cinematic back in October 2005:
He was playing Horde side.
Having played Warcraft one and three I preferred the Alliance aesthetics, but I wanted to play with him so I created this character.
I ended up playing most of the times with people who were in my guild than with him.
The love for this game remained, while our friendship ended in 2007.
Thereâs no race attached to it.
What attracts me to the Horde is the concept that they are neither heroes or villains, perhaps renegades, not refugees anymore thanks to Cataclysm and BFA.
If I would pick a race that would be the Blood Elves as I have like six of them at level 120.
They have the Alliance aesthetics I always loved and they are on Horde side.
Main reason I love them is they can be portrayed in a multitude of different personalities according to your personal loyalties:
- Sylvanas loyalists ?
Darkshore Warfront set.
- Saurfang Honorable Horde ?
Arathi Warfront or WoD garrison set.
- Pure Sinâdorei ?
Heritage Armor or TBC themes.
- Former Alliance member that fought along side King Therenas Alliance during the Amani conflict ?
Imperial armor set.
Personally I donât think any other race in the game has been through such different situations as the Blood Elves.
Exiles that established themselves in Amani territory, fought along side the Alliance, lost everything when Arthas destroyed their kingdom, being exiles again, going back to reclaim their lands, finally joining the Horde.
Cheers.

I saw the Mr. t ad back in 2007 and my 10 year old self was in love. i made so many emails just so I could keep replaying the 2 day trial, killing all the kobolds around northshire Abbey and buying the white gear from the vendors felt so awesome lol.
I eventually bought the battle chest (which is awesome btw) and made a dwarf and got him to around level 13 but I went back to my human because I didnât like Loch modan.
So I donât think I really had a connection to any race I just wanted my guy to look like me.

I played wc3. Saw WoW. Decided to play WoW. Played WoW since launch.
When I was stood in front of the lich king it was probably the best moment in WoW, after playing wc3.

Theyâre adding that in Shadowlands, so you should bring that up again in conversation and tell them that it only took over a decade, but youâre technically right now.

Eh I was bored, so I went for a walk to the local game store and saw the game, this was 2006, thought about buying it, it was WoW vs Guild Wars vs Everquest, choose WoW and here I still am like an idiot.

Had an addicted friend during TBC & Wrath. Cata was about to hit shelves and I tried it but didnât got hooked as my friend was overly-entusiastic about it. It put me off.
Years later during WoD I was moving countries and found a book store at the airport. Found âShadows of the Hordeâ and bought it, read it during flight and loved it.
Itâs story and Volâjin made me try the game, and after reaaaaaly trying to like it started playing at the end of WoD / beggining of Legion.
Since then I took multiple breaks, cuz sadly the game isnât a long term material.
Log in, do the short content in each patch and if you want to continue manual labor in dailies.

I was reading a magazine about pc and video game, i have no idea what name that magazine was itâs been too long.
Anyway they were an article about warcraft but as a mmo and as an exclusivity screnshoots of the tauren race, i liked the concept and said to myself as soon as i can iâm gonna roll that kind of char(iâve been playing roleplaying paper and pen since as a child even in club) a human female war, and then i did buy the game with the book and that was it.
I saw a review of WOW in a newspaper when it had been out about a year or so. As I have always enjoyed fantasy I thought I would try it. Being middle aged then I had never played games so it was a steep learning curve but I have played ever since. I dont have any friends IRL who play games, most think I am wasting my time, but I continue to enjoy it, and on to the next expansion.

Worked at a PC shop back then and we got the collectorâs editions and took a look at the game, and took it home.
15 years later still here.
Had just finished high school, didnât really know what I wanted to do, my mother was having her third cancer, I had played a few MMOs before but not seriously but I needed an escape during that period especially when she passed away and BC had just released a month or two prior.
I have always been a huge blizzard fan, Most cuz Diablo 2. I remember playing W3 with my siblings when I was kid.
RPG have always been my gamemode. I like the part where you make a toon. And just go questing enjoy a world made by others. But when I was kid I was told âNever play a game with monthly subscriptionâ so I had played alot of the free mmos out there. Then I tried GW2 a game where you just had to buy it was fun but like all others I didnât bound to it. Then ESO another MMORPG you had to buy but here you also could buy a sub and I for first time in an age of 20 did it I bought a subscription for a MMO.
3 and a half year after I got tied of ESO, reasons that I do not wanna talk about here. So I began Searching for another MMO RPG.
Sins I have played HotS sins beta and OW for some years now. I desidet to play WoW. The game I was told to never play as a kid. I startet my first Shaman back in halloween last year. He was an Orc on the Dreanor server. I desidet to play an Orc for my love to Thrall when I was kid, also the reason he was Orc Shaman.
I like WoW the friends I have got here. And acturly WoW is that MMORPG I have played I find the most enjoyable. For alot of friends there hear i play WoW they say but BFA is a bad expansion. My answer for that is if a âBAD EXPANSIONâ is like bfa then I wanna try a good expansion cuz WoW is my main game now

Hmm, probably the world. I always liked exploring and doing quests I hadnât done before. Itâs kind of ruined after so many years of playing and I donât think I can get that feeling back, unfortunately. Lately WoW has been at itâs lowest points for me personally. End-game can still be fun, and I enjoyed legion thoroughly.
I havenât had any attachments to any races though. When I started out I made characters for every race pretty much, nowadays I mostly stick to Alliance because all my other characters are Alliance too. And I guess Iâm boring since I go for humans mostly. But because of all the min-maxing, I just donât feel that same mystery about the game anymore. Being a noob was definitely better.
Youâre not boring, just unambitious

Loved the night elves in Warcraft 3, made my first character a night elf Druid.
The TBC came and the blood elves caught my eye, I also always wanted a shadow priest so here I am.
And then blizzard screwed up the shadow priest.

I played a half elf cleric in a MUD game. Fellow players deserted the MUD for WoW, and I ran after them.
Rolled a Night Elf priest then and a Draenei mage with BC. Still have both toons, although I started maining the mage as soon as I rolled it.
My bf at the time and I were playing Tibia together. Then one of his friends told us to try wow out. We bought it and played together for a bit. He went back to Tibia but I stuck to wow. This was my first char though it used to be a Tauren.

I was an avid WC3 player, and I loved Cairne, Thrall and Rexxar, so i started playing wow as soon as it was available, because my older cousins bought it for me so that we could adventure and raid together. My first character was a Tauren druid, because I liked the idea of using nature magic (never went feral though, I hated the forms).
Then WotLK came and I immediately switched to Tauren dk, because I was a huge DK/Scourge/Arthas fan. I will remain a Tauren dk forever.

My guild went from L2 to WoW in 2007. Shame they wanted to play Horde, thus I had to suffer playing undead priestess for 2 expansions, until our guild died.
Never Horde since Cataclysm and will never return there.
My dad started playing during tbc, and I was like âooh you can be a skeleton?!â
Needless to say that I stuck around playing after that first sub playing Wrath but I didnât stick long on my forsaken spriest.

It was actually my older brother playing it back in WOTLK.
I remember seeing him in Goldshire and how beautiful it looked. Then I remember him doing a raid and at the time the raid bosses looked massive and there was so many people around, I had to try it.
Thats why I went Horde too. Wanted to see a different perspective. Otherwise iâd have probably rolled Night Elf.
Originally I started with private WoW WOTLK servers, but shortly after hitting max level on there Cata 4.1 was coming out and I wanted to play the real game. Asked my mum to buy it for me (I was like 14 at the time - no chores for my own money just had to ask and pray), she agreed and even did the subscription for me.
Then Iâve been playing ever since. Paying for it myself of course.
But I do remember the Mr T commercial. That was good advertisement.
And the stigma around the game, âYouâll become addicted!â.
