What got you to play wow and is there race attach to it?

If you want to, tell small story or show even a video or commercial of wow that got you into the game

Simple, i was a kid with a bad laptop and i saw this https://youtu.be/BAibYnDUH6c
I wanted to play wow instantly, my first main was probably night elf and than forsaken and night elf again many years later.
I love mr.t and the badass ad, not gonna lie, also the remix of him with the wow.

My cousins have been talking about the game since burning Crusade.

In wrath I pretended to understand what they are saying, but my cousin tricked me.

Him: it’s amazing how you can change the ear size of the blood elves, right?

Me: yeah, totally cool!

Him: Aha! You don’t play wow you liar!

I tried wow one day at my friend’s house during wrath. It wasn’t fun because I was rushed into playing it for a short time.

Then I finally got starter edition between Cata and Mop. It was fun but my studies and finals ruined the schedule and I stopped in late MOP.

Finally came back to wow During Quarantine and it’s super fun! Currently my favorite game. My cousins don’t play anymore, so now I became the annoying one always talking about the game.

My first char was a orc warrior very inspired from my morrowind orc warrior wich was such a badass in full orcish armor! :muscle:

I had played a little of Warcraft:Orcs and Humans and a whole lot of Warcraft II and III and then heard that they were going to release an MMO. I had just bought my first flat and had my own internet, good old 56k dial-up, but had never played an MMO before so I also bought the Brady Games guide, which I still have to this day for both Vanilla and TBC (interesting fact but Shadowmoon valley was completely missing from the guide as the zone hadn’t been released in the Beta).

Rolled a Tauren hunter as that was the closest I could get to being Rexxar and the rest is history.

I am my own mount. How cool is that? :wolf:

I initially played on Private Servers in the earlier days of TBC, before playing on the official servers mid-late TBC. Private servers were just full of bugs… :stuck_out_tongue:

My first character was a Tauren Druid, but I had no attachment to it beyond it only being available to Taurens back then… and Trolls [which were fugly] ?

My dear little vulpera, I’m afraid you got it wrong! The trolls couldn’t be Druids until Cataclysm!

Yeah, was unsure hence the question mark.

A friend didn’t want to start playing alone so she asked me to join her. I ended up buying a copy of the game from Toys ‘R’ Us of all places.

Followed Warcraft since WC2, big WC3 player and general blizzard fan (diablo, StarCraft) but the Warcraft world was my favourite. Opportunity to actually explore Azeroth as an individual? Oh hell yes, installed on release day and remained ever since.

I was also familiar with the MMO genre due to playing EQ prior as well, so there’s that. I probably would have played even without that though due to the strength of my passion for the blizzard brands back then.

First ever char was a troll priest (didn’t keep it lol), coming from a cleric in EQ, playing a healer that had some real offensive clout with shadow spells was totally crazy.
Ended up rolling a gnome mage who became my main. I still have him on my OG server, and a mechagnome version of him on the server I main now

Heeeey. I’ve bought many of my big game purchases at Toys R Us in my youth! Not to be knocked. It’s where I picked up my N64!

You can edit posts you know.

I started to play WoW because one of my friends as a child did and I thought it seemed really fun. So I asked for it for my Birthday and I got it (alongside BC which was the current expansion at the time).

I did not really have any race I absolutely wanted to play before, so I made my first character into a Tauren Warrior. Warrior because that is what my friend suggested and Tauren because I thought they seemed cool. Though after a couple weeks I changed to an Undead Mage.

I’ve had a battle chest since early MoP, but never played till late MoP, and only started subbing at 7.3.5

I used to take the Bradygames guide into my school’s breakfast club every morning (well, when I didn’t have my 40k rulebook) after locking myself into the store cupboard for some quiet.

To begin with, I just made human hunters that looked and named like me, but one day I decided to diversify out to one of each race (I’d level one to 20, delete, repeat). Borbarsa was the one I was levelling when I started subbing and things just went from there.

Now I spent about 2+ hours per day and never looked back. This is the only MMO I have ever played and likely ever will, and I love it here.

Oh, that wasn’t a knock; more remembering that they’re gone now. They had a good C64 selection back in the day, although they were always a quid or two more than the local independents.

My old friend talked about WoW and showed joke about wow pics.
Made me very curious about WoW and bought TBC. It’s my first MMORPG game.
I guessed friend played Vanilla as me late for TBC.

Myself first into for troll and blood elf.

Ooh, a MMORPG based on the Warcrafts!

It’ll be possible to play undead? From Lordaeron? Holy cheese. I’m totally going to be a necroma— huh. I guess it’s available later on if you start as mage.

When I was little, my brother and cousins would play warcraft 3, and I was always watching and couldn’t play. :c
But I remember seeing Night Elfves, and I was like: “OMG ITS AN ELF! OMG OMG MAGIC OMG ELF IS A BEAR NO NO IT CASTS SPELLS NOW OH OH IT RIDES A TIGER OH OH OH WOOOOOW”
Yeah I was really a cringy girl no wonder why they didn’t let me play with them xD

Stuff like this was a big draw for me too. Since WC2 I’ve loved the blizzard incarnations of fantasy tropes and young me was totally psyched to play as a troll. I remember tracking the pre release updates and was so excited when trolls were eventually announced…

…and then I ended up really digging gnomes. Probably because I had a lot of gnome characters in Everquest. My main there was a gnome paladin.
