Title. During leveling I saw an extreme amount of Warlocks around. It’s understandable since we got the new exciting Meta form, but now I hardly see any Warlocks around. I’m one of two Warlock who signed for BFD in my guild this reset and we run 7-8 different raid groups. Did you guys all switch to another class after reaching 25?
We probably have the most complicated rotation in classic with a mid-tier DPS payoff. Is this why people are leaving locks behind or am I missing something?
Hunter is better in many ways.
Casters are a struggle now. Warlocks are actually least bad option, but Hunter is simply a warlock that does 50% more dam at 50% more personal safety in PvP now.

And this, by the way my main lock, I’m the hunter posting above. 99.3% WCL almost full BIS and my alt Hunter with barely anything already pumps more.
hunters need a huge nerf.

Big parse > big DPS. For me at least.
I saw the colapse of the warlock population as well.
I main a warlock as well, in the reroll process for feral druid instead.
Reasons: can’t compete with melees or best tanks. I love Meta and destro but numbers are too low to be considered in pugs. And guild can’t stack casters because of boss n6.
Because of minmaxing, if you’re not S tier you’re basically avoided. Pugs want smooth runs and fast loot.
As for the pvp state of things, it’s even worse: Huntards, shams and priests everywhere. Dots get dispelled, drain get dispelled, pets (hunters, obviously not ours) are bursting more than us and resist fear etc etc.
Played a warlock, wanted to tank, got the rune late(aka didn’t tank instances during leveling).
No one took a tank that has no experience, and only pre bis gear.
Managed to OT one or two IDs while switching to DD on non ot bosses but really struggled to even keep second spot in threat.
Getting a tank invite got harder dds typically only one WL per raid, leveled a priest and a warrior with a friend.
We both get whispers the moment we log in if we want to tank/heal BFD, nothing on my warlock that is way better geared…
Yeah …
Have a lock and shaman tank. I enjoy playing the shaman more. So I will probably focus him first next phase then the lock. Also dps lock is so annoying ATM due to the constant spamming of life tap. Destro can do good dps but requires stupid rain of fire rune which is very bad gameplay for me. Tank lock feels nice but I have to fight hard for threat.
For me its the gameplay that sticks and class fantasy. I guess many people found the warlock tanking that got them initially excited blunt.
Problem for warlock tank (imo) is that they are not S tier tanks. Threat is ok if build right (16 points in destruction / full crit build) but gimped because Searing Pain is locked at rank 1 for lvl25.
Typical chat:
LFG chat:
Pug: “LFM , 1 tank and go”
Me: “I can tank”
Pug: “Class?”
Me: “Warlock”
Me: “Still looking?”
Warlock is arguably the hardest dps class in phase 1. Very hard to actually deal good damage with a warlock since our rotation is so specific.
I’m guessing most people got forced to reroll since warlocks weren’t parsing very high. We also need a lot of spellpower to really get value.
However warlocks are now climbing into the top5 on dmg meeters. We are without a doubt the best caster dps for pve.

They all re-rolled hunters
