What happened to Metzen fixing the lore?

It’s been like 7 months since I’ve heard anything about him AT ALL.

it doesn’t matter if he just joined the team at a later time… Hype could’ve been returned to the game with just a basic story that you can make up in like 5 minutes like:

“Garrosh had a son, which wants revenge on Thrall… pursuing him with a vengeance like Aedelas Blackmoore did in the Twilight of the Aspects book.
He uses every dirty trick in the book because Thrall is stronger and also dishonored his father, while Thrall is filled with hesitation and regret(these confrontations giving a narrative line and opportunity for Thrall to regain his shamanistic prowess )”

Just make a manly af cinematic with lines like: " My name is Grrosh. You killed my father, prepare to die." = 9999999 players subbing again

Instead of making the 1000th story about getting together as one, despite our differences, violence is not the way… big white man are EVIL… just go back to simple personal conflicts.

Hahahaha. You do realize that the man that sentence was taken from, looked like this:

Manly huh?

Anyway… Making a game takes a long time; they are working way farther ahead then what we get to see. And Blizzard is such a big corporate machine that you can’t just thrown in an extra piece of story or content.

I also think that many of the ‘Metzen apologists’ are fooling themselves.
But we’ll see who’s right come Midnight. Because Metzen’s influence should be noticeable there (but I don’t think it’ll be what some of those people want it to be).

yep i know :))). added it as a joke at the end, because i love the scene.
And yea that mustache its manly af!!

In midnight if i dont see at least 3 beheadings in the opening cinematic it’s gonna suck.
Yes 3… because they need to overcompensate for not having anything cool for entire years

I disagree, but you do you.
I’m afraid you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment though.

Nah.

THIS is a manly moustache:

These days names mean hype.
Metzen is back but for the hype.
Ion and company keep on downgrading the story and the gameplay.

I was gonna say exactly that ^^
That is a good lookin’ stache!

But Metzen or no Metzen I fear that kind of stories and characters is a bygone era we’ll sadly not see again.
They’ve also have to tie in any new storytelling with the current story and characters which limits things :/

Sure, he’s a handsome man from a time when social media filters didn’t exaggerate what “handsome” or “pretty” meant. Just a naturally good looking man with a slightly goofy haircut and moustache, which can easily be changed, mind you. Also, can we appreciate how committed the man was to his mission? Now that is manly!

And everyone fell for the bait even after I warned them that Metzen wasn’t and isn’t the saviour everyone thought he was with rose tinted Vanilla specs…

Oh don’t get me wrong: I love the movie to this day and he’s probably my favorite character in it.

I just don’t think of ‘that’ when someone says:

:kissing_heart:

Did Metzen ever say “I’m here to fix the lore”?
To me this sounds like classical gamer behaviour, where people make up their own fan fiction about a game’s development, only to complain when it turns out it was all in their heads.
Metzen may or may not have a positive contribution to make, but he’s not going to personally write every single line in every single quest. Warcraft is still written by multiple people and there’s no reason to expect a complete 180 on how those people work. And even if there’s a drastic change, it’s hardly going to be due to one dude alone, and maybe it would’ve happened just the same without him.

Also, I have to be honest…

this is boring and I’m tired of it

but this is even worse.

I honestly don’t think the actual events are bad as they are. We’ve had matricide this expac, which should be way heavier and darker than the nth revenge story. It’s purely a framing issue, not one of manliness. Tone down the moral pep talks, maybe add a slight edge where it makes sense, and we’re good.

But the thing is: That’s only ‘between the two factions’.
Apparently ‘violence is still the way’ when it comes to fighting antagonistic third parties.

And this is why I laughed when you all got so excited about Metzen coming back and was going to make it like vanilla. You clearly didn’t watch the video where he says he’s grown as a person, with age and experience. That he realises the audience is now just not nerdy teenage boys. That he’s letting people write stories they are passionate about and just being a good manager.

For him to say such a thing, Blizzard would have to admit that there was something wrong with it, which will never happen.

As to Metzen himself. Some people bought into the hype. Metzen has been good at rule of cool and creating big epic scenes, but as a writter as a whole not so much.

Blizz are master baiters…

people just like to idolise somebody out of nowhere .

i remember the time when people said oh now bobby kotick is out .microsoft is buying blizzard . each and everything will get fixed with blizzard .

the first thing microsoft did was lay off alot of people and here we are . delciously cooked bugs every patch , customer service which is operated by some 3 rd party indian company which cant even write correct english or a copy pasted ai response .

if your account gets locked or some other problem with suspension .wait for a long time before you can even play the game . losing your subscription days ? not a problem in blizzard dictionary .
