What happened to RBG community?

Hello guys,

I used to play a lot of RBGs on legion, it was very competitive and fun. My friend list used to be like 50-60 people online all active RBG players and we used to form and play on 2200-2400mmr (at that time was not that hard to get it).

Now it is completely dead. I am not here to cry and blame random stuff. I have a concrete question. What made the RBG community fall apart?

Some say it was the enforce of playing PvE so you can actually do something on PvP… like you are forced to farm some trinkets and stuff… some say a new BG was released 6 years ago, and nothing more. Seriously, developers design an endless city / region and they cant put effort to make new BGs… new concepts or anything.

I don’t know, i am very nostalgic and i wish there was someone with answers to why the PvP community (once key to the game) gets so little content. Like in last 2 expansions we got 2 arenas, and 2 BG redesigns…

I hope these are just bad times, and things will get better for the RBG community.

many reasons why RBG’s are dead.

one of the main ones is probably that random BG’s are dead too and they were on the decline pretty much since WoD. The removal of vendors, bad class design and scaling/PvP templates killed any incentive to do them.

And basically every RBG player or any competitive PvP player started off doing random BG’s, that’s the entry point.

It’s the same with mythic + and normal/heroic dungeons and well if the entry thing is dead, no/few new players will emerge through the system and all that is left are those who are long time players.

the reason why those are quitting is pretty simple too, at least it applies to me and most of my friends I made over the years: Little comes down to actual player skill anymore besides tactical decisions, dmg numbers are largely dependent on RNG, classes don’t feel nearly as fun to play as during MoP or even WoD and the constant feeling of not being able to stay competitive gearing wise by only or mostly playing PvP.

the re introduction of PvP vendors will be a big step in the right direction next expansion if they then add in more class complexity, remove scaling, add PvP specific stats preferably resilience so we can be somewhat sure that our gear is competitive I can see the random BG community and the RBG community making a comeback.

Yea rbg is kinda sad in bfa

I spoke to some 2600 rating RBG people.

They have high hopes for Shadowlands to bring back the RBG competition again. Cause of vendors and hopefully the PvE gear won’t ruin it.

Looking forward to that!

wow is a gold farm game now due to all the boosts you buy from people, just find a fun farm for gold then buy the stuff you want.

mythic raid gear? buy boost!
gladiator ? buy boost!
rbg 2600 ? buy boost!
