I have 1 month since i started after a long break period. Unfortunate i haven’t be able to find any guild , not only because they are very few but 2 of them have stop raiding and some of them are either on standby or the people are going-went to other servers.
Other than chatting with other people from several guilds show that many of those guilds have of 5 to 10 people active with no further development .
The connected server population is barely 700 people with just 10 guilds Alliance Side and only 3 of them still raiding … (A the horde side is on the same page )
I tried guild forums/wow-progress-sever forums for more details about recruitment or something that previous years was a point start in order to enter a guild but there nothing new since 2021…
I don’t remember having such problem on finding even an casual guild just for the Mmorpg elements and able to play in an mmorpg game .
Did i miss something after a 5 years break period ?
Everything in this game feel like an mmorpg but with no actual felling .
I’m doing something wrong ? I am missing something with servers-guilds etc after a 5 years period ? Because the only Solution is to transfer my Characters either Silvermoon or Ravencrest.
There is nothing else right now… Just sitting afk (I don’t remember playing a game or investing time for not having fun )
I restarted this game with the purpose of having fun being in a social guild that do raidsand have some other activities like mythic + and in general having fun .
Perhaps there are some major changed over the years that i’m missing but 1 month there is no one talking in any channel …dungeons raids…the same .
Frankly, you came in at a bad time for finding a guild to raid with, due to the current season consisting of warmed-over old raids (They’re new to you, but people who have been playing for all of DF progressed and farmed them already), a lot of guilds probably decided to take a break, there’s a sort of “Been there, done that, got the tier set” attitude among players here on the forums, and it’s likely the same in-game.
I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong, except for your timing, really…
In TWW Guilds will be cross realm, they are currently also cross faction. In S4 you can raid everything, including Mythic cross faction and cross realm. So you could find a guild on another realm, raid with them now and join them in TWW.
Places to look for guilds:-
If you want something on your own realm you can also check out your realm forum.
There is a guild finder in game but it’s awful. I do not recommend it.
I’m in the same boat. I did find this one through an old friend but we don’t play much together…
It’s because they killed the town effect - what you describe as the “server population-guild-Mmorpg Element”. Avoiding something like this is one of the several reasons why realms were there to begin with. It wasn’t a technical decision. The engine could already handle thousands of units in a small space and they had experienced developers from both Quake and Everquest on board. They would’ve had no problems adding matchmaking and cross-realm features.
But they didn’t.
You don’t really need a guild anymore. Or rather, you don’t need it to play WoW; but to enjoy WoW you honestly still do, so it’s very easy to get caught in a trap of perpetual loneliness…
And yea Puny just comes up with 5 websites. That about sums it up lol.
I played since 2003 and found my first guild that way in… I’ve never done it.
You didn’t need to. WoW was so remarkably social in and of itself, there was no need to look for a guild outside the game. Just travel the world, find someone you like, and join the guild, follow the stream of people around until you land where you wanna land.
I’ve advertised my guilds on it many times. I do not think my own guild would have made it without those sites.
But I never did. And I was in a guild the whole time, from level 33 in retail and the day guilds were added to the beta, to 9.1.5, after which I seem unable to find a guild that fits me. I mean I’m still in a guild, but… we don’t play.
So I empathise quite strongly with what the OP is saying. Yes, I could probably find one on those sites, but I… haven’t.
Started in TBC, people were not nice at all to a new player. The toxicity I faced from people I ran into in the game was horrible and it’s a miracle I kept playing. I find the game a million times more social now. It’s also why I have all the time in the world for people new or old to the game. Because no one should have to have that experience I had.
My guild disbanded at the end of S3 and I had to find a new guild, I used those sites I mentioned, narrowed it down to five suitables and started applying. I was accepted same day and so far they seem a really fun bunch.
I like guilds because they are the social cohesion of the game to me.
People all have different experiences and preferences and there is nothing wrong with that. My friend started as a clueless warrior and had a priest take him under his wing and teach him. In contrast as a new player I got told to delete the game.
Well, my guild found me based on my WoW CV. But then again, I play in PvE guild and personally I hate social guilds in principle so I probably can’t advise here.
