I know that you are partially joking but I think a lot of people have simply given up. They either got over it or they just stopped caring about the narrative. I am personally a bit sad with how they handel their world and its story. I feel like the development team is so obsessed with gimmicky systems and technicalities that they often times forget that those should only be tools to further the creative vision of the game, not the other way around.
