This is an mmo my dude, you always had to level and gear your alts. That’s the meat of the game.
If I had to guess, Blizz will add lots of catchup mechanics in later patches.
I do agree that the game shouldn’t have alot of catchup at launch.
If only I had the time to pug a few good groups ya know, that dont fail cause insert various reason
I don’t know, character progression maybe ? You know this thing an mmo is all about ? Go play a moba if you want everything right away.

I can do everything on one char just fine 
I level to max in whatever zone and with whatever method i choose.
Grinding dungeon, quests, pvp. Herbalism only for all i care.
I do a few normal dungeons then a few heroics with the LFD.
Get a few items from each and be ready to sign up for an alt raid with my guild or group of friends.
No ap farming. No weekly Thorgast. No renown to unlock separate skills.
You are max level and then theres gear. That it.
If you want a simple metric:
I used to raid 2*3 hours a week. Can i logout after a raid and come back a week later without my character having missed anything. If not: Get that garbage out of here.

Sockets aren’t going to make or break your character.
So does a tier or two of new gear. Yet you want it to be competitive, dont you?
Blizz misunderstood the data. They thought the initial success of classic means people want grinds. And they also have in charge some guys that are disconnected with their players, like Ion.
In 3-4 months max they will face the reality. A lot of players are in WoW because of Covid, and when spring come and lockdowns are over, if they believe people will rather grind than do anything outside their house and away from computers they will have a surprise.
How much they pissed the players in the last year and they keep pissing them will reflect in if those players will ever return or if the brand loyalty is gone. Right now WoW is heading quite fast to become another MMO and they need to change the direction, not just fix a feature, implement a catch up system or give one more piece of loot in a key.

Yea, well if you dont care about your alts to be good, then why are you here even discussing it? I dont want to get instakilled in bgs, because my gear sux. I want to be invited into dungeons instead of endlessly afking city because I get declined all the time due to my low ilvl. I want to be taken into a raid, which requires me to have all char checked. Sure I could play pokemons on my alts, but thats not my thing. Sorry.

I care about my alts but i dont expect them to be on the same level as my main. Some work should needs to be done in a game where gearing is part of the game.

All I see from you is you complaining that your alt isn’t as powerful as a main character that has had effort put into it. Why should an alt be as strong as a main character without any effort?

Would be nice to have an FF type system whereby you can learn everything on one character including professions. I love WoW but so much grinding the same sht over and over on alts. Would have to level the jobs still and gear them but would cut out all the mandatory cutscenes and intros.
Well, thats the point of having alt friendly expansion! You can play your main and your alts as well without investing full 100% of the time into every single character. Do you get it now?

That’s not the point. The point is that there shouldn’t be a stupid amount of gating behind reputations etc. That was the case in BFA, not the case now in SL.

a friend of mine is already at his third lvl 60 character. His previous 2 are both above 180 ilvl.
just because you don’t understand how to play alts, doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone.
