Depends on playstyle. I not use Bank alt. But then also not problem with mail on death 
SSF Character dies = delete. No character no problems.
I do not always delete. Record holders and some I come to like much I keep as trophys. Has always been like this. Now I can just move them earlier they just stayed - not much different.
And just for record. I do not do SSF - only SF not Solo.

Mail returns to sender even if died AND deleted. I just go mail back from dead friend.
Was this in HC? Since you can’t ress in HC, you couldn’t retrieve your mail and transfer, so they changed it so the mail just disappeared so you could transfer as soon as you died.
My lvl 8 Tauren hunter died recently wiähile willing to save some druid from elite gnoll. Turned out he had 2 adds stackecked on top of him model in model so I thought he is only fighting one, not three. They chased me into some wolves, catched into a net and killed, while I got onluäy one of them.
Anyway that Tauren hunter had been waiting for mail and I was able to retrieve it with my sender character via support mail selfservice.
Yes this was in HC. My friend die 30 days ago. Delete immediately, create new with same name.
Yesterday I got mail returned from him.
