What has happened to Horde RP?

I have been on a long break from RP on WoW and just resubbed ready for Dragon Isles. I went to Orgrimmar and it is dead. Then within seconds got a /w to ask “Want some 18+ RP.” Are there any more RP hubs the Horde are now hanging around in?

On top of RP as a whole having diminished due to Shadowlands and Blizzard in general, Horde RP has largely moved away from hubs for a variety of reasons (including the experience you got), and to more guild-oriented RP.

The last couple days I’ve seen some people sitting not far outside of the gate of Orgrimmar though, in Durotar.

what the Behh is this now? more degenerancy? Sigh

RP on a Horde started to die off quickly after Sylvanas decided to pull a F card on the Horde. Mostly turning into bubble RP in the guilds. Besides, Orgrimmar in its layout feels very small in comparison to Stormwind. And with SW being constantly alive and thrilling with all kinds of RP + the introduction of Ren’dorei (and Quel’dorei in turn), it feels like a number of factors that came together and lured some chunk of RPers away from the Horde.

At least that’s how I see it.

Combo of arguments between pro Sylv and anti Sylv groups, other issues also and then some unsavoury types being the straw that broke the proverbial back

I feel calling it bubble RP is wrong when it comes to the Horde, it’s simply Guild based.

Bubble RP, to me atleast, is when a guild shuts themselves off from any people outside of their own Guild since they’re in a bubble. But on Horde side I’ve always felt Guilds are good at including outsiders in RP, guildless or from other Guilds.

I would even say when I RPed on Alliance I felt Guilds bubbled themselves off much more frequently where it was like you had to climb a huge wall first to be able to interact with them at all.

The same person that /w me

damn, man must really lack a hobby. I told him to get his :poop: together and reported him

Oh, it seems we have a different definition of a bubble-RP.
I didn’t necessarily mean that it’s isolated environment. When I say Bubble RP, I mostly refer to a fact that RP first and foremost kept alive from the guild, by the guild, to the guild. They aren’t limited to themselves, can / happy involve “outsiders” or organize cooperation with other guilds. But the main “motion” is done by the said guild.

Whilst RP HUB - it’s completely random encounter based at most, between individuals and multiple guilds. At least that’s how I see it. Sorry for the confusion!

Alright! Yeah then you weren’t wrong.

I just feel the word bubble RP has such a negative connotation to it, that I wanted to make sure it wasn’t misunderstood how Horde RP really is.

Orgrimmar has been dead for a couple of months now due to A. people being tired of the city and B. a bunch of stuff with jade witches and kit RP. (including NSFW stuff)
It has some RP every now and then, but nearly not as much as it used to.

My recommendation? Find a guild and RP with them.

I am trying to gather people around the idea of creating a neutral HUB in Underbelly.
I think that everybody can agree that there are two main mentalities of RPers with their different approaches.

  • Someone prefer to RP in a guild and base their RP activity 99% around it.
  • Those who like to RP in HUBs and base their RP around that.

( And those who like both approaches and combine them)

It is only my opinion, again, I don’t want to offend anybody, but it seems that majority of Role players who pick Horde side, the choose it because they want it to be guild based, as it is and that’s why we see that numbers of Horde players are running low. Because if you want to RP on Alliance side, you just need to log on and visit Stormwind in the evening, or Dukswood. That is simple, right? But if you want to RP on Horde, you need to visit forums, search for guilds that could accept your character role and invite you in their rank, spend your time chatting with guild officers or guild members, sometimes you need discord for that, sometimes not. Or you need to search open position in guild finder etc. So after all this being said, a newcommer RPer, who decides to give it a try - he or she is more likely to pick Alliance rather than Horde becaue of understandable reasons. It is easier to give it a try on Alliance side. (And it is one of the main reasons, but not the only one)

Also, I noticed myself, that Alliance RPers are more willing to support creating of Hubs, groups consisting of random players, than Horde RPers. Last Friday I was gathering players from both factions to a meeting ICly. We spent some time sending invitation letters (in game) on Alliance side and Horde side, both. I created a forum post and so on. But only Alliance Rpers showed up at the meeting (there were something like 15 people, I know that there were also players in stealth, but decided not to show up, maybe because they just wanted to see what is going on) We will be holding another meeting this Friday, we’ll see how it goes. There are a lot of things to work on and there is a lot of room to improve, so players would be interested in supporting the idea.

And the reason why there is no HUB on Horde side RP. they simply don’t like this idea enough to support it. They can be not against it, but they don’t want to bother themselves with it, cause they are already enjoying their RP in their guilds.

  • Sub numbers are down so there are less players overall.
  • They added pseudo Blood / High Elves to the Alliance so less players on Horde.
  • Horde story drove people away players in BFA and beyond. Loyalists are not satisfied and neither are rebels in the aftermath. There are unresolved tension Blizzard can’t relieve.
  • Some players hate Vulpera, leading to a further exodus.
  • Controversial RP guild(s) set up in the Orgrimmar hub drove people away. Hub is infamous for only where bad, or unaware RP’ers go now.
  • Coomers constantly looking to ERP set up in the former hub, praying on people with predatory whispers.

I think that’s the gist of it.

It’s not so bad, Garrosh metal Orgrimmar wasn’t that fun to RP in anyway. Crossroads, Razorhill, Ratchet and Brill are much more fun spots.

You can always try TRP scanning players around Horde zones and try to interact.

That’s far from the truth.

I hope you are right, and if you are right, hopefully, some Horde Rpers will show up on our next meeting on Friday to support the idea of creating a neutral HUB for Both Horde and Alliance players.

Everyone who RPs as a shady character (rogues, thieves, asssassins, eavesdroppers, black market merchants/traders, spies, pirates, etc), they can send an anonymous letter (ingame mail) to

Gertrauda

and you will recieve an invitation letter with precise time and place, when and where it will be held :black_heart:
