What I would change in Retail WoW

Yea, no thanks. As long as the default client is as bad as it is now.

Every season I played since legion I’ve seen the same amount of participation early and late in the cycle. If you’re talking about the players pushing high keys then I dont think the game should cater to them since they are a minority of a minority.

Participation drop is fine. Because like I said:

People fail to consider the other people in the same boat as them. If you are still playing at the end of the season because you didnt reach you goals, the game is big enough that there will be other players who will still be playing at the end of the season because like you, they havent reached their goals.

In my experience, no matter what expansion I played, regardless of the systems; AP, valor, crests, etc. People will play it start to finish.

Do people only play an hour a week?

But that is simply not true… Every season, every expansion has a decline in participation towards the end of a season… And that is normal…

Im talking about everyone else… Because those will still be pushing… People that play for KSH and KSM only will stop almost right after… So unless the system changes, they need to drag it out…

And at the same time, I don’t really follow your logic… It seems you claim people keep playing because M+ is fun, but at the same time you want a system that allows people to only play 1 dungeon a week for maximum reward? And you feel ā€œpressuredā€ to play 8 dungeons a week to max… Like help me follow the logic?

If the game is so fun, that people would play it regardless, 8 dungeons wouldn’t matter? People would anyways play more than 1 dungeon? And if they don’t want to, surely they will quit super early if they max out their characters meaning they will do 1 dungeon a week dragging the participation all the way down?

And that is fine, because even if participation drops, you will still be able to do what you set out for. If the 8 dungeons thing gets removed, it doesnt mean the group finder will become barren. If you as a player are going there to search for groups then there will be other players like you. Other people who also started late in the season, or playing alts, or still just playing in general.

There will be others who are still pushing, the players who are still pushing at the end of the season are not special, they will find other people like them to queue up with.

If you like milkshakes, whats stopping you from drinking a gallon everyday? Well maybe too much of a good thing is bad for you, or maybe you dont feel like drinking milkshakes today. I do enjoy dungeons, but I dont enjoy being forced and pressured to do them 8 times a week. There are times where either I am not able to do 8 dungeons or I am just not in the mood to do 8 dungeons. Ah but you would say, okay then just do 4. Well then I am not being efficient and that’s not fun. So as a result I just stop playing because I am damned if I do and damned if I dont. And pretty sure low participation is better than no participation.

Not if there is no playerbase… That was the general issue with the old key system… after a while for dps a +5 would take ages to form, because healers and tanks would get invites to lets say a +7 instead… So why do +5?
A +13 or +14 was a wastezone… Because people would rather do +11’s for faster rewards, and again, healers + tanks might as well do +15 instead…
So no, participation matters a lot, specially the way M+ works where people care way too much for RIO score. You may not, but a lot of people do.

Isn’t this a bit counterintuitive? You argue that you feel forced because otherwise you fall behind… But here when I do the same argument, you say ā€œThere will be others like youā€ ?

Of course, but there will be no incentive for a lot of people to do more than the bare minimum, and if that is scaled down to just 1 dungeon, participation will drop, making the overall experience worse.

This makes me confused… If you don’t enjoy drinking 8 milkshakes a week, then don’t? Gearing has never been easier… You are not ā€œforcedā€ to do 8 dungeons a week… And if you are, you basically agree that people care too much for minor things, meaning less participation = even longer que times…

But this is my main point… People like you don’t enjoy M+ for M+, you enjoy it to be ā€œcompleteā€ā€¦ So you probably won’t be pushing once you are maxed out, yes you may do 1-2 keys here and there, but participation will drop massively, because why would you farm keys if you are already done?

Participation for M+ from the sources available online has been rising in DF… So not sure where you get ā€œno participationā€ from?

So unless the overall M+ gets a revamp that by itself can sustain players to que without incentives, I would highly disagree rewards should be given for even less playtime…
And before looking at the vault, I would rather have them look at the crest farming… It makes (to me) no sense, that a HC raider and someone that is able to do +10 keys, has to farm normal raid / M0 for crests… Yes they can just cap, but miss 1 week, and you are even further behind.

To each his own I suppose. But when I see wow the way it is right now it’s very easy for me to get burnt out from it. It’s no longer encouraging to try other types of content because they all seem to have their own version of 8 dungeons to get through, and while I always felt like I could easily allocate my time for a variety of activities in wow before, I could not do that since shadowlands. And if we add alts to the mix it just ends up further bloating the content.

I am a pve main, and I am playing cataclysm right now. I am already done with my heroic dungeons, and valor cap is easily obtained through raids and a few dungeons. It is fun to know that I could try pvp, farm mounts, transmog, level and gear alts, all without the fear of falling behind.

But it has never been easier to farm gear than it is now… The only difference is, you see capping as being better…

Right now you get bullions to buy BiS gear with, you have sparks to make craftable gear, you get very decent gear from just playing M+…

Your alts? They can even get geared through your main and boxes… In the beginning 1 M+ will be enough, because almost everything will be an upgrade from vault…

It seems the problem is not really the inefficiency of gearing but more your own need for the game to say ā€œYou have capped your vaults and your gemsā€ before you allow yourself to play something else you enjoy.
