I recently had some toxicity from a player who told me I am casual because I have 25 mounts and 86 pets and only low exp in PVP (which I am hoping to get better at as it’s fun). I’m in a guild with 1k players that I’ve just joined as I’ve mostly been a solo gamer. I am always up to date with the main stories/questlines.
What do you think makes a casual player, or, is there even such a thing? The only reason I ask this is because, aren’t we ALL casual gamers? You know, because there’s this thing called real life, working, being with family etc. Please correct me if I am wrong, but who, on this earth, has the time to not work, not pay bills, and stay at home all day playing games (please don’t mention full-time Twitch streamers who do this for a living). Because here in the UK, full time benefits from the government aren’t even enough anymore to have anyone staying at home since the cost of living crisis. What’s it like where you are?
I think everyone has slightly different definitions for this one.
For me a casual gamer is someone who plays a handful of hours a week & doesn’t consume any content about the game from 3rd party sources (eg YouTube, streams, info sites like Icyveins or Wowhead).
A person who plays games but aren’t competitive. Usually, they are just there to be social and have fun but if they end up losing in the game they wouldn’t mind. They don’t put in a lot of effort to try to win. They may or may not play long hours of games. A casual gamer doesn’t place their gaming as a first priority. ~ Urban Dictionary
So by that definition, it is a more “subjective” term. For that player that said “you have 25 mounts and 86” pets, you are a casual gamer, while for you, someone who logs in once a week is a casual gamer. It is all a matter of perspective at some point.
I could say low XP in pvp being more or less casual - dependant on honor level too, say, I’m only 25 - but a casual would most likely have more mounts and pets.
Because let’s face it, if you don’t play the endgame, it’s pretty much the only thing you can do, maybe RP or pet battle.
I would say the only adult no lifers who care about the lore that don’t want to see “Mag’har warlock and worgen demon hunter, and undead paladin” while we have 600 pounds cow rogues
You call yourself casual, yet when we look at your char u have timed 20s , 300ilvl gear , bunch of mythic boses killed and 34k+ achiev points, which imho is far from casual.
So yea , there clearly isnt a single correct answer to what casual realy is .
