Record’s 3 hours last time I checked.
You inspired me to level up alts
Now I got 7 but Ill get atleast 10 to "Hallow
s End" event.
Maybe 20 for the “Love is in the Air” in 2021 in Shadowlands.
I dont really play alts alot, but i do occasionally. Now i’m working a bit on my paladin. I want to learn to play her so i can maybe bring her if someone needs a healer for some lower m+ keys. It feels like i’m boosting when i bring my main
i have a main that never changes, and a handful of lvl 120s i use for professions to support my main, or to do easier content ( normal raids, lfr, low keys, warfronts etc)
I’m very much a main char person.
But, I do make alts with specific themes. Often I just level them and that’s it. If there’s an easy way to farm gold with them, I’ll probably do that. But I’m not into gearing alts and such; just feels like a waste of time to me.
An alt to me is a character I can relax and have fun playing with, without the quite often pressure to perform at 100% as with my main.
To me alts are characters that are different from my main and that’s why I play them, to learn different classes and specs and playstyles. If I end up not liking the playstyle of one of them, then they become a mog/mount/event farm character that I will log into once in a while.
For example my latest alt is an ele shaman, because I’ve never really tried it before. Goal is to be able to get into HC raids and M+ but who knows once I reach end game I might not enjoy it at all.
For me my alts are just a different main to be honest
And since they are on AD they are equally important and fleshed out like my other mains
They greatly helps to not burn out or let the enui kicks in after playing a single class/race for longer time
They are different in both looks and playstyle and always fun to log in thanks to them
So guys and gals in my rooster! Love you
I wonder how close to lore is dwarf PALADIN named CID
BFA’s endgame isn’t very interesting to me so I actually prefer spending time on my alts, and as a result I have a lot of alts, one of each spec from what I think is most-fitting lore-wise, and at least one of each race:
Death Knight
- Blood - Orc
- Frost - Kul Tiran
- Unholy - Human
I’m on the fence about whether I should make one of them a forsaken instead because they fit better visually though.
Demon Hunter
- Havok - Blood Elf
- Vengeance - Night Elf
Druid
- Balance - Highmountain Tauren
- Feral - Worgen
- Guardian - Troll
- Restoration - Night Elf
No particular reason for Troll to be Guardian lore-wise, I just like their druid forms.
Hunter
- Beast Mastery - Mechagnome
- Marksmanship - Dwarf
- Survival - Troll
Tempted to have an Elf hunter because they fit well lore-wise and have that classic legolas feel, but I’m not sure I’d be willing to replace any of the other races.
Mage
- Arcane - Nightborne
- Fire - Dark Iron Dwarf
- Frost - Void Elf
The Void Elf is a placeholder for a proper High Elf ideally.
Monk
- Brewmaster - Pandaren
- Mistweaver - Vulpera
- Windwalker - Gnome
The Vulpera is a placeholder for a Jinyu ideally. If Jinyu were introduced though I wouldn’t be sure what class to make my Vulpera.
Paladin
- Holy - Lightforged Draenei
- Protection - Human
- Retribution - Zandalari Troll
Priest
- Discipline - Blood Elf (Gold eyed)
- Holy - Draenei
- Shadow - Void Elf
Rogue
- Assassination - Goblin
- Outlaw - Worgen
- Subtlety - Undead
Shaman
- Elemental - Mag’har (Shadowmoon)
- Enhancement - Dwarf (Wildhammer)
- Restoration - Tauren
Warlock
- Affliction - Orc
- Destruction - Blood Elf (Green eyed)
- Demonology - Gnome
Warrior
- Arms - Dwarf (This one has sentimental value because it’s the only character I still have from Vanilla)
- Fury - Mag’har (Warsong)
- Protection - Kul Tiran
BEFORE ANYONE ASKS
I’m aware re-speccing is easy but I prefer to keep them seperate for a better RP-feel and it encourages me to stick with specs I’d usually skip.
And alt to me is an alternative character. Alternative for the content that i am doing but probably a bit lower and less optimized as my main. But if i can not play M+ with it on somewhat level, then i am not playing the char at all. Which is actually currently the situation. I can’t be bothered by my windwalker anymore and it is not even getting weekly chests anymore.
I don’t see the supposed issue here. I have my reasons for naming him so.
I mainly use alts to run old raids for gold, so just another source of gold.
Name was only a cheery at the top. I see an issue with Dwarf being a Paladin. Its not common to be Paladin at all and if I would value lore then I would pick between Human, Lightforged Draenei and Blood Elf. All of them have lore and reasons for being this class.
Dwarf? Its far-fetched combination with close to no lore examples. I would not pick even Draenei considering that they have customization option as seperate race~
I am picky. I value lore over everything else
I’d have my Main, and ‘main’ Alt that’d I would gear up as well, and any other Alt purely existed for professions for some self reliance whom I couldn’t care to gear up.
Ah ok, well yeah I suppose you are right about that. More often than not, I just use lore as a template. While it does matter a lot to me to be at least mostly accurate, I make it a point to just suspending disbelief. A Paladin Dwarf could easily be a “Mystic” which is as vague as anything, but does allude to a being that has perhaps made contact with some form of power that is beyond his comprehension, but still within reach. In this case, that power would be the holy light: Something that only the Humans are known for being in touch with.
I disagree on this being farfetched.
A holy forsaken priest is special snowflake levels of different, but not farfetched.
A dwarf learning the ways of the light from other dwarves that have been taught by the humans, is not farfetched.
A human druid would be farfetched with the lore that is in place by the time Vanilla WoW was released.
Blizzard loves to make their games rich with lore, but mostly on a surface level. It’s kind of what makes them great to me because it allows leeway for our imagination rather than pinning us down to a tight-knit set of rules.
Anyway, this is all a conversation that we shouldn’t really dig much further into since it kind of breaks the theme of the thread to say the least.
Somewhat agree, however:
Frost Human/Worgen - somewhere we have to throw in the Arthas-like character
Unholy works better with an Undead Forsaken, imo.
Depends imo on if you have chosen the corrupted skin option or not. Corrupted is in my book Vengence. And I personally associate the Havok DH with the Night Elves, it’s just such a classic and icon theme.
Balance - Nelf, iconic character
Feral - I used a ZT for this
Guardian - Female KT, Mama Bear-fantasy
Restoration… haven’t one yet. Will save the spec for a new race in the future
Beast Mastery should be Dwarf because of the iconic Classic opening.
Marksmanship Belf and Velv, no doubt. Both have some sort of Heritage-armor colorizations for their weapons
Survival: Goblin with the the 2h pick-axe
Somewhat agree but Frost is rather a human/worgen thing. The Gilneas-dress goes also well with the Emil’s staff.
Pandaren
Pandaren
Pandaren
Good choices!
Good choices - I used for discipline a goblin priestess tough - because they NEED the discipline for not charging money related to their services
Assasination suits Worgen/Vulpera due the gritty nature of the spec.
Subtlety works more with female races, I believe.
Outlaw - KT/Pirate-themed characers
Good choices, yes. Did the same with mine.
Good choices as well, did the very same.
Did almost the same here but I haven’t a Protection character yet. Maybe I’ll use a male Draenei for this spec but I’ll wait and see how the Heritage Armor looks before I start a new character
An alt for me is the character that i think i want to main because im bored of my actual main, only to realize that i actually like my main more than anything else. An alt is the side chick that will always get disapointed because she wants too much from you but all your efford goes to main babe all the time. Heartbreaking alt life…
A tool to further progress. And also to spare myself the boredom of playing the same class for an entire tier/xpac whenever im online.
408k honor kills damn man that’s nice
