What is an Alt character to you?

For example: I like to create characters based off of lore, very often.
Gameplay is also important to me.

I try to maintain two characters at most. Usually I like hybrid classes, but sometimes I lean more towards pure DPS.

I even like to alternate on professions between them.
How about you?

for me, an alt is alternative to what you currently play and about being flexible as much as you can, even if you’re good or bad

For me an alt is really my next main. I level to max, play at max level for a few weeks, then select a new race and class and start all over again. For me the fun and the game is the journey, not the destination.

So do you go for something that plays completely differently to your main or a slightly different approach to the same idea?

depends really, like in legion, i played ranged/healers, and brewmaster… now im playing ranged and melee… depends on current state of classes all in all tbh

I’ve done the same thing many times. Some characters feel complete when you reach max level. That being said of course there can be a ‘journey’ for endgame characters as well. Some take min-maxing to the extreme and can practically play nothing else but a single character at max level.

Alt to me is a tool to farm gold and the stuff I want more efficiently.

I always create my first “main” character in all MMO games in my own real life image and name if its available. I always play with my main and I think its “real me”. Alts are just extra characters just for extra farm, nothing special to me.

I don’t really have “alts”. They’re all classes and specs I enjoy in different types of content.

It’s more like the game forces me to pick one character and invest more time because of how gearing works, but otherwise I’d just swap in an instant depending on what am I doing at the moment.

I like the “jack of all trades” approach FFXIV has with multiple classes in one toon.

This level 20 Starter Edition character is my main. Maybe it sounds weird, but I play with my 120s only to collect some mogs and mounts for my 20 level hunter. With this 100% XP bonus I leveled up 7 x120 only via BGs.

I only really main one, I have a selection of alts for professions and the rest are just there. They get levelled, get token gear and that’s pretty much it. Sometimes I’ll have one alt I play but not so much lately.

Is it safe to assume all of your characters are Belf then with the exception of classes that aren’t available to that race? )

What do you actually do with a starter account that takes up your time more than an endgame character could? I’m curious.

Pity on you… You got 47+ 120s and you missed the “Big Love Rocket” in Feb :stuck_out_tongue:

I had 3 mains before BFA.

Resto druid for PvE, disc priest for PvP and this hunter for the questing and collecting.

Everything else only got token gear and is used to farm.

I’m not really interested in the dungeons and raids of BFA and PvP is a nightmare at the moment so that only leaves me with Cro here to farm rep for mounts.

EDIT: if SLands’ PvE and PvP is fine, I want to up it to 4 alts because i really like paladin (which I’ll probably use to tank).

Alts are low priority characters I can use for doing alternative content. They fulfill certain desires and are parked all around the world for Mini Boss hunts, pets, achievements, dungeons/raids/transmogs.

I use my alts to farm transmogs, gold and mounts. I have at least 1 char per class, don’t yet have a warrior and priest characters, will get to use once shadowlands rolls over.
Really like collecting stuff so that’s why all the alts.

Also I feel like some of them are more lucky then my main, one of alt got the mounts from corpse eater and Ishak on their first few attempts.

I saw reports on WoWhead of speedrunners reaching level 50 (the equivalent of current level 110) in less than 4 hours. I think it was actually as little as 1 and a half hour. So at any rate, people who’s never been much into leveling might get a lot more alts when SL goes live. Or after they’ve played their main for a while anyway.

Yeah it kinda sucks that wont drop for me.

There is always next year :rocket:

Any character that is not the same race and/or class as my main.

I usually have a function in mind for my alts E. G. unlock x race’s heritage armour, get the loremaster/explorer for Y zone(s), learn to play z class/spec etc.
