From Classic I just know it was Gnomish → learn all devices/trinkets → unlearn and retrain Goblin.
Is this still so in TBC or how do you minmax eng nowadays?
Goblin is the meta for warrior and paladin tanks because of the sapper and stamina trinket that generates good threat on pull,but the trinket gets replaced by Darkmoon faire cards.
For arena it’s gnomish for Nigh Invulnerability belt.
Anything else is not important, you still gotta unlearn engineering, not really worth it in TBC since in later tiers other professions are better.
TBC engineering pretty much only boils down to where you want your teleport destination(s) to be. And the random fun gadgets, of course!
The goggles and other “important things” aren’t tied to Gnomish/Goblin.
Gnomish is mandatory if you want to push in arena.
It’s impossible to get high rating in arena without Eng at the moment.
Belt for arena looks pretty good right now.
As a rshaman I dont know if I should craft it or not, not sure if it’s still BiS in the next seasons.

It does not help, it’s mandatory. You can’t survive as healer vs double DPS if you are not Eng. Good luck as Restau Druid vs Mage/Rogue. Same for Rsham. Only Priest can play without and they nerf themselve if they do that.
It is not mandatory. I’ve played (and lost) vs several druids, shamans and priests without it. It absolutely does help, but it is very possible to get to a high rating without it.
Everyone in top 50 2vs2 is Eng. Speak for themselves.

You’d expect the top teams to be engineering if they’re very competitive, but that doesn’t mean it cannot be done.

There’s a WD team in my guild around 2500 (which isn’t top 50 anymore, though they haven’t played in weeks, think it was around top 20 when they got there) where neither of them have engineering. And like I said, I’ve played and lost vs plenty of healers (around 2300 right now) without it.
