To me the Azj-Kahet story lines and some of the side quests are dark enogh. It’s full of betrayal, assassination’s and usurping power. The other zones were far too tame.
Because it was written by the HR department. They’ve gone through and said “what does not align with our values as a company” - which is their employee values, not the values of their characters - and consequently the dialogue comes out like this.
Yeah I too wish it had just more of it, but it also seems a bit disingenuous to say that it doesn’t exist in current version, or moreso that they’re ‘not allowed’ to write darker questlines.
Maybe people just have different criteria to what “dark” means though, I don’t think stuff that’s just edgy for it’s own sake is particularly dark-feeling, but also i don’t think WoW ever had much of that to begin with.
I still remember the whole legion storyline to this day especially suramar, it was epic. I do not think we can compare df and tww with past expansions
I disagree. I’m enjoying TWW’s story more than the majority of old WoW stories.
It actually has me interested and invested, while that wasn’t the case for most of the WoW expansions (the exceptions being Legion and MoP).
Don’t get me wrong though; I enjoyed (or at worst; tolerated) most of the WoW stories (the exception being Shadowlands as the one I actively hated the story of), but I never took them seriously and I wasn’t invested. I just took them at face value.
I did all the side quest in TWW and only found one that was good. Was in Azj-Kahet in a cave with spiders, it was dark and immersive.
But yeah, story-wise you can’t expect anything good from this team since Shadowlands.
Sadly it’s not only WoW, a lot of series/movies and other games suffers from this virus.
If you are enjoying it i am very happy for you everyone has different taste, i do also enjoy the expansion, except for the story
