Is it a small, regular town? Is it a regular town with some questionable people at the inn? Is the Inn a full blown brothel? Are there actually Demon Hunters dancing on a table in Elwynn? Or are all of these practices non-existant to your character, IC?
A regular town.
Don’t let the deplorables win.
We don’t talk about Goldshire.
I remember once War Mode came out, Goldshire was empty: no ERPers, no trolls. No one. It was a Friday night peak RP hours. So the Bloody Verdict did an event where they set it up as a temporary base of operations. Not a crucial plot point in the guild or anything, so it was just a fun event where for a short while, Goldshire was not overrun by ERP fiends.
A wretched hive of scum and villainy.
A normal town busy with passing traders and a thriving centre for adventurers starting out their new lifestyles. Perhaps a healthy mix of farmers markets and focus on smithing. (I consider it bigger than in-game representation as most of the world is larger than such.) Often mentioning it for such things in RP or if it’s bought up in conversation. Never actually been there for RP however to avoid the mess.
Don’t recognise the other activities going on there in my RP, far as I am concerned they aren’t RPing more than engaging in deplorable activity or just lolling about OOC. Recognising them as actually there just lends support to their actions.
Brothels don’t exist in WoW, therefor any and all villages are just that… Small villages with an (illegal) Inn or two, plenty of houses, bakers, blacksmiths… Kinda like a normal Medieval town, I suppose!
Just a sleepy hamlet in Elwynn. My characters like to reference some cider brewed from local Elwynn apples that’s popular at the inn and they like to grab one when traveling on their way to Redridge.
I never stop there OOC myself for obvious reasons, but it’s something to think about IC.
Has anyone ever thought about perhaps looking at Goldshire (Inn) the same way IC as OOC? Or atleast letting some of the things that go on there shine through in the IC world?
I’m also more inclined to think of it as a regular town, but was wondering whether anyone didn’t feel the need to completely disconnect from what’s going on in the place in-game.
The biggest cringe a guild/rpers can do IC is talking about Goldshire & mentioning “brothels” and how it’s a sleezy den of depravity
Elenthas’ eyes begin to glow a mighty red
it’s powerful shade of red
It is dead to me.
Like me.
Absolutely not.
Because it’d give the Rpers/lollers of Goldshire too much credit?
It’s literally just some town and anyone who treats it as more than that is probably goldshire-tier themselves.
Because nothing of substance happens there and what does is against the Tos
Goldshire is a bland hamlet in Elwynn. There is no brothel, or anything seedy going on. Do not legitimise ERPers actions.
I agree with the general concensus here. Just curious whether any serious RPers saw it differently
War Mode Goldshire is the canon choice.
