What is Goldshire to your character?

If a character of mine with no pre-existing knowledge of what Icecrown Citadel is was told there lived a fellow by the name of Chen Stormstout there, then they might as well believe that Icecrown Citadel is a place where there lives a fellow by the name of Chen Stormstout. Nothing wrong with that.

When it comes to generally somewhat famous or known locations, then I’d say it kinda is.

And even if your character geniuenly does believe that, they are still wrong for believing it. It doesn’t warp the lore to make it so. I’m not saying you are claiming that, I get your point in that a a character can believe something to be diffrent.

But yeah, it’s weird for Alliance, especially those residing in Stormwind, especially human characters for thinking or saying Goldshire IC is what it is OOC.

Why would you as a player make something you -know- is just that -dumb- a part of your character? Don’t act as if characters write themselves.

Even in the real world, there are thousands of people ignorant of such famous and known locations, and that with access to the internet and all. It’s not unreasonable to think there are people in the world of Warcraft unaware of what the Icecrown Citadel is. I definitely agree that it is more of a stretch for a human of Stormwind City not to know of Goldshire, though, given the town’s location and importance. A night elf or draenei, however, or even a human of another kingdom? Not unreasonable.

Yes.

Thank fu-… I mean fel, I’m playing on Horde. We have a minor version of it on this side in the form of SMC’s bazaar, but it’s easily ignorable and less famous.

Back when I did Alliance RP, my characters made a few meta jokes about it being a brothel, but nothing too immersion breaking or out of place.

The last time I actively RP’d there on a non-casual basis was vanilla/early TBC, when it was still a nice place to go, so that’s how it is for my characters.

I continue to believe that a large enough group of roleplayers going there regularly for some time (yes, the sticky Warmode-off version) will start to clear it out. Not to mention - all those people reporting the questionable inhabitants there will make short work of them.

It’s a place where the local candle and kobold population are relatively the same.

Literally never heard of the place. Elwynn Forest is entirely inconsequential to Sathie’s plans (except for the burning vinyards).

The idea of accepting the ahem… activities in Goldshire IC is a living nightmare for my immersion, because if we were to accept ANY of the things that take place in that madhouse as TRUTH, it would make Azeroth a very different place. :eggplant::goat:

Because, if ANY of that stuff… ANY OF IT… Was accepted IC. Then it would retroactively transform the entire world to have entailed those kinds of details all along. I don’t think any Old God corruption could top the version of Azeroth in that supposed reality. If it is accepted as truth, then we are faced with a very dark, perverted world.

I don’t actually care what people RP in private, but there has to be a line somewhere. Casual mention of brothels with no graphic details? A-okay. Tasteful romantic RP? Sure. R-rated smut RP in public? Naaah.

As for how Gridcog would view Goldshire? Never heard of it. I like to imagine Azeroth is actually much larger than the in-game version. I imagine there are way more villages dotted around the world that would support actual kingdoms. The size of Azeroth in WoW is actually one of my biggest annoyances when I try to imagine reasonably sized population being supported by the relatively small cities and villages.

I pretend it doesn’t exist.

A wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I prefer to remember the Temple as it used to be; not the abomination it has become.

I find it pretty difficult to understand why anyone would choose to acknowledge the player population of Goldshire over the canon lore.

Stormwind housing more crime syndicates than I can shake a stick at isn’t so bad; it’s a huge city, organised crime should exist.

Goldshire’s Lion Pride Inn housing Legion breeding bulls and excrement monsters (I’ve seen TRP screenshots - it isn’t pleasant)? No. Not a chance.

This doesn’t exist anymore btw, crime RP and Old Town are :skull: (Craniumed)

I also remember these days when I was in the BV. I also remember a certain renard is your father mage leading gank squads there during a IC meetings. Shame it got ruined
