What is honour? ✊

So, basically, what you are saying here is: “My interpretation is better then yours.”

Good one.

No offense, but you are taking this way too seriously. I get that you want Sylvanas to be a nuanced machiavellian villain like the antagonists in Game of Thrones, but, really, she is a saturday moorning cartoon villain at best.

What he is saying is not mental gymnastics, it is mental gymnastics to read what Sylvanas said any other way, she is quite literally saying honor mean’s nothing to a dead person;

And she is a dead person, she already died, she already saw what awaits her on the other side. Therefore, honor means nothing to her.

Why would she care about honor when she wants to survive no matter the cost. That’s silly.

Ironically that’s exactly what Hala was saying.

My point was that it’s not really an ambiguous line that can feed multiple interpretations. My “interpretation” is simply reading the line in context.

So, you remedy this error in your own eyes by doing the same? Picking one interpretation and saying “This is correct.”

And in my own opinion, it really is an ambiguous line. Imagine, it can mean both of these interpretations.

There are two main lines of interpretting that, which i can see.

  • Your honor means nothing, if you let everyone die to preserve it
  • Eh, i’m dead so it doesn’t apply to me

I think that the first one simply makes more sense, unless you are trying to push an idea.

I don’t think so. When did Sylvanas care about honor? Also, I just said it can mean both. And you saying one is more likely then the other is:

No, as explained below that bit you quoted, my point was that I feel the line isn’t ambiguous enough to give multiple interpretations, but you’re entitled to disagree.

Of course I am entitled to disagree. But I won’t tell you you are wrong because we aren’t dealing in absolutes here. Simple as that.

You’re defending Hala when she stated her interpretation is the only legitimate one and anything else is “mental gymnastics” by saying there’s multiple interpretations and it’s simply your opinion, you’re defending her by arguing against her.

She never was based on a single quote meme like the recieving end of that verbal smackdown.

However i don’t think it’s in character for her to openly discard any and all honor. This is a confrontation, where Saurfang has a problem, with her contingency plan and whines about how it doesn’t fit his honor to which she responds that his honor is not what they are fighting and potentially dying for. It is the Horde.

No, I am mocking your approach where you attack someone who claims his interpretation is correct by doing the same thing, namely pushing yours, and saying “No, this is correct.”

Picking one possibility and claiming it is the truth. I consider it funny.

Ah, yes. Mocking Dranosh was certainly honorable.

I was highlighting her error while quoting the thing we were discussing to show it takes effort to read that line in any other way than “honor means nothing to a dead person”. The line literally reads “Honor means nothing to a corpse, Saurfang”.

Anyway, its besides the point, you didn’t target the initial error in logic because its your friend.

I actually did, several times. Or was the “you shouldn’t argue for one interpretation” not obvious enough?

I was just having a fun time because you are correcting Hala’s error by repeating it.

That’s the point. And imagine, I can disagree with my friends. A shocker, right?

I didn’t repeat her error, I elaborated on it by showing the dialogue in question, I used her term “mental gymnastics” as it is what she used, but what I meant was “it takes effort”, therefore though there can be multiple interpretations, it involves adding extra information/data to read it differently from what the actual line states…

I see that you both enjoy talking about me

Remember the sass i was talking about previously?

Sure you didn’t.

Mocking someone’s dead relatives now qualifies as sass? Ok.

If I say “Sylvanas rules, Alliance drools”, you two are going to stop?

That quote just shows I did what I just explained I did…

I don’t care for the direction Blizzard are taking Sylvanas in, so that line doesn’t really change anything for me :stuck_out_tongue:
