I have been running around with this 335 staff for well for god only knows how long now I’ve had it for so long I’ve forgotten how or when I got it, I’ve run lfr, run dungeons, done incursions, emissaries everything I could possibly do to get a weapon to drop and the only thing ever to be rewarded to me is a 370 dagger which is ok I suppose until I went hunting for a decent off hand and the whole “Nothing is gonna drop for you” scenario started all over again.
I don’t want to buy from the AH mostly because I can’t afford it and I know as soon as I part with 15k one slightly better will drop.
Is there anything else I can do to get a new staff?
Why don’t you try to conquest cap doing the assaults? Or some low form of PVP, i know not your cup of tea but that’s how you get easily 400(the second cap ) ilvl weapons.
And weapons aren’t even that rare since most classes share weapons,what are rares are shields. I saw 1 drop from pve in the entire expansions the other 2 were from pvp conquest caps.
you have killed 6 bosses total, with roughly a 30% chance to get loot from each boss and all those bosses have several items on their loot table.
I am just curious, what do you expect? You hop in once and loot exactly what you need?
Mathematically, assuming the personal loot chance is 30%, you have around 90% chance to loot an item after killing 6 bosses. So you have a 90% chance to get one item from 6 bosses who each have 2+ item.
Assuming every boss drops 2 items and there are 2 items that you need: that means you have a 2/12 or 1/6 chance.
This means you have around 15% chance, to get the item you want.
I’ll rephrase I’ve run lfr on the bosses that drop the item I require and yes I believe there were 6 of them, and no I didn’t expect to run it once and get what I wanted I’m not a simpleton I’ve run lfr several times and still nothing. The question was after exhausting so many options and tiring of the repetitive nature trying to get a weapon was there an area I missed. And as Holystephan pointed out I could try out some pvp to get somthing. And as Teknetia said his also noticing the lack of arms.
I’ve been somewhat lucky on weapons, I got 4 2 handers from Dazor first boss, 3 heroic ones and 1 mythic. I got the 1 handed tank weapon from grong on like second kill or something, I’ve got a pile of 2 handers and 1 handers in bags bank from mythic dungeon runs.
My mage has piles of staffs and 1 handers.
I’ve seen people have issues though so I know your not alone but you need to explore all the options available.
I log in once a day on my low geared alts. I will see, if there is a weapon wq up. Usually it takes something between 1-2 weeks until one pops up.
I think there may be sometimes even emissary that can give even better weapon as drop.
So my way to deal with it is simply wait. My most recent alt is already geared as far as it can from just wq’s. Still, until today when there was a weapon wq up, that alt had been using below 300ilvl weapon while rest of the gear were on average 355 (i think).
You could say “buy a weapon from AH!”. Indeed, that is also a solution, but weapons in AH are ridiculously priced. Why would I pay 25k gold for 340ilvl weapon that I will replace as soon as weapon wq pops up? Or emissary?
Unfortunately, the alt was also on opposite faction that I usually play. My profession alts couldnt send item from alliance to horde. I have very little interest to level another bs for horde…
^ This. The first item on the PvP Conquest reward table is a 375 weapon. Do all five Faction Assaults quests in Warmode and you’ll get 60 Conquest points, plus 50 if you get the Secret Supply Chest. The points roll over to the following week if you don’t hit the required 500 in your first week. Here is a complete list. If you grind Conquest points you can apparently get more than one a week if you’re behind on the list.
did you farm TW dungeons for weapons ? did you clear all mythic 0 which have weapons ? do you use each week both extra rolls on bosses with staves in lfr ?
Farming weapons was always a crapshoot (remember that frickin axe from the Phoenix in Burning Crusade? Its took me like 30 Raidresets to get two of them. Thats more than half a year…) We forgot that because of Legion and the Artifactweapons. Thats why I was so bummed when the Artifactsystem was over. I HATE farming weapons, especially because my chars often have one Agility and one Intelligence-Specc.
It used to be the same for me with my mage up until 2 weeks ago. I’ve grotten 7 weapons since then trough lfr and normal plus warfront. 2 daggers, 1 wand and 4 staves.
