What is the current state of Outland?

As the question goes, what is the current state of Outland in the lore?

Has the Alliance and Horde forces been recalled?
Are the Scryers still hanging around Shattrath, or have they returned to Silvermoon?
What happened to the Fel Orcs after Illidan fell?
Have the Draenei of Shattrath city basically become the single most powerful faction in Outland if every other significant faction has either left or been destroyed?

I can’t help but imagine Outland is pretty empty at the moment, even in the lore. I bet a reduced race such as the Blood Elves would never let a significant military force(the Scryers) just hang around while war is raging in Azeroth, or that the Alliance/Horde could either really afford to maintain footholds there now that the Illidan debacle is long gone and the constant wars/crisis on Azeroth.

What do you guys know/think?

Sadly, forgotten by lore.

In Blizzard’s eyes, they probably ceased to exist. They “don’t fit in the current plot” probably (just like Vindicaar) so they… Are ignored.

I assumed the connection to Outland has been cut, when WoD started, but we went there in Legion so i dunno.

At least in the old lore it was crumbling slowly into the Twisting Nether.

Well, Danath Trollbane isn’t there anymore, so it seems plausible to assume that most of the Alliance forces would be gone at least.

How would such a reduced race stop them, if they don’t want to come and live under the protection of Shattrath and its Naaru?

As of Warlords of Draenor, slowly deteriorating. Beyond that, we’ve got no idea.

It’s a backwater hellscape with no valuable resources, so I don’t see why anyone beyond the natives would want anything to do with the place.

Most of Outland’s exotic and rare ores and metals are untapped and quite close to the surface following the breaking of the world, so there’s that.

And there’s also Netherstorm, which is a near endless source of magic that if tapped could probably supply you with the necessary mana to create enough manabombs to blow up both Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms five times over :open_mouth:
