I like M+, quite a bit. Week on week I have a lot of fun working around the affixes and the Emissary positioning (for my money S3 had the best seasonal so far but YMMV ofc).
Having said that there’s one affix which I dislike the most. Sanguine.
Now Sanguine is not overly complicated and usually it doesn’t really do much to alter the pathing or overall difficulty. In fact, as a tank, the fact that it’s mostly a tank affix is something welcome in that if I do my stuff right it’s a breeze.
But it’s probably the same reason why it’s such a busy affix. In some instances you feel like you’re looking for real state in Manhattan, that’s how crowded it gets at times, looking for a spot to drop the stuff whilst not pulling any mobs and making sure the ones you are “visiting” don’t heal up. So whilst fun and all, it gets a bit tiring in the end.
Not entirelly actually no… cause when you have a shooter trash mob and a melle one about to die your trying to kite , but your brainless dps procceed to just murder the one u can kite while ur getting it away, and dropping the sanguine to where shooter is and now you have to los, or kite to get out, since they dont bother using their cc to knock it out then yeah…
My worst affix is Grievous and Bursting. Both need the healer to not be lazy at all, which as a tank… well… is kind of the goal
I think affixes are a perfect way to make content harder and challenging. Ever played path of exile? They use affixes on maps, and it’s imo one of the best current games that target a hardcore audience.
Sanguine is definitely one of my least favorites, which is primarily due to some bosses running around where mobs spawn (jess in TD, first boss in KR etc), but also because in tight spaces, you can barely see anything due to the camera being blocked by obstacles, think WM and TD, when you try to find a narrow space to not get hit.
Explosive for me depends on the class. On demon hunter I have no issues with it, but on my survival hunter it completely destroys my rotation. I do hate that it’s incredibly annoying to target them though, really buggy at times.
Teeming is another I really don’t like, but it primarily depends on the secondary affix. A teeming combined with explosive or sanguine is just a no-go for me. I’ll do a +10 for the weekly and that’s it. I also don’t like how particular teeming packs are combined with beguiling, but that’s also because:
Beguiling, I hate it. The random positioning of the emissaries creates horrible pulls some weeks. Sometimes void emissaries where you can’t hide, enchanted emissaries you can’t get rid of without pulling another pack, or tide emissaries that are combined with double shielding mobs or double hexing mobs (like, really?! ). Generally speaking I think this is a terrible solution to higher keys and I hope it will never return.
On the other hand, I really love reaping and I’m interested to see what the S4 affix will bring us.
For my bDK. Skittish. If I get some big boy burster dps and no missdirect/tot to cover me. I am pretty much playing hot potato with the bursty dps lolz.
Depends on the key level really, on my druid I despise bursting in low keys bc of how much it slows you down for no reason, but that virtually disappears the higher you go.
Grievous is smth I used to hate but as a druid i dont really get to complain about it.
I’ll always despise bolstering though
I hate Sanguine cause most dungeons here are loaded with trash and sometimes it’s incredibly hard to find a spot to leave pools while continue to go forward (hello Motherlode’s path to first boss). Just make it soakable by mobs/players so it can’t heal/deal damage forever.
Bolstering… Even with good group, you have to hold up your multitarget abilities (which often are part of rotation) cause you can accidentaly kill smol mobs you didn’t want to kill. Give it 8 sec duration.
Explosive. Unfun. First boss on Tol Dagor tyrannical… At the start - OK, scarabs spawn and here we go with constant chase through sand pools to reach orbs as melee. Solution? When player kills Explosive Orb it deals 100% of the overkill as damage to mobs around.
Overall, EACH AFFIX SHOULD HAVE MORE THAN WAY OF DEALING WITH IT /4chars
And I am melee player. Sanguine does not bother me slightest. This week someone made a joke about me finding a best M+ week to roll a melee hunter alt and we even had 5 melee groups (paladin healers like to be in melee, druid healers like to dps in melee too) and sanguine really is more of a nuisance due to ‘ninjapulls’ in dungeons like Motherlode than for its own puddle effect.
Explosive is annoying not for the fact I must switch to an orb, but because sometimes those orbs spawn to Narnia. And then you just soak the aoe and often die to it.
