2v2s are mostly fine as you can more or less controll the situation and try and make something out of this random matchmaking, but 3s? Random cluster#£&* of people of all gears and/or ratings put together to do… What exactly? So many times you are being paired with utter garbage comps, people with 20k HP going against people on almost 40k mark, how can that be any beneficial to my learning? Like I said, 2v2s are a bit better in that regard but I rarely had any good 3s with somewhat balanced teammates/foes. The system (or lack of it) has been in this game for ages, unchanged yet people seem to be fine with it. It baffles me. Anyway if someone knows what purpose does 3v3s serve please let me know. Asking for a friend.
3v3 exists mostly so that healers can queue for skirm, pretty much. Healer+dps against an unorganized double dps is going to be crazily unbalanced, and they didn’t want to leave out the healer role from non-rated arena entirely.
Yeah I suppose it makes sense. The original idea might have been good but the execution has been poor. It’s like if you wanted to play an unranked game in Dota 2 let’s say, and the system would put you in a mix of noobs and top players without any team balance mechanics so that sometimes you would end up in a only noob team against Immortal rank players etc. Plus at least in Dota 2 there is no initial gear only skill. Still, such matchmaking would have been simply bonkers and pointless, yet somehow in WoW it works just like that and it’s suppose to be fine. Beats me.
They should just add an unorganised, unranked arena practice mode that uses MMR to match you, and you can use for warm up games, practicing, trying new stuff out etc. Skirmish doesn’t really offer any of that.
That would work. It’s simple cause the system is already there. Now I go into the arena on my alts and die instantly to most classes due to the difference in gear (and I am not talking about going skirmishes in 158 ilvl gear. More like 190). There is nothing I can learn there at the moment apart from anger/frustration management. And I am sure it adds to the negativity around PvP forums as well. Something that is so easy to fix, yet it stays the same xpac to xpac.
