I agree with Slapface. Some people PvP for fun, not for ilvl rewards. I don’t know if these PvPers are the majority or minority of PvPers, but there is enough of us.
I love that WPvP has become a possible source of Conquest points, that gear no longer has upgrades based on rating that are relevant for PvP and that you have plenty of players in BGs and WPvP zones.
Honestly really enjoying DF PvP and from my point of view I would say it is thriving at the moment.
Ok, in that case we don’t need raids or M+ either, because if it’s only for gear we could just get a vendor that sells 1 piece per week.
If you play for gear than it’s a you-problem. The majority of pvp’ers doesn’t play for gear.
I played an actual PvP game for 4 years. I think I can call myself a PvP player. The issue in WoW is that the PvP is very, very scripted while the modes are limited and the incentives low. We will see how the season develops, I doubt it’s going to be better than other seasons. Especially S2 is going to be interesting since S1 is hyped, like every new expansion and especially now people wanna try different classes and such. But once this is gone, it’s going to be clear if what you say applies for the majority or not.
I didn’t say that. I applied your logic to PvE and it fails.
MMORPGs were always about progression, mainly gear. In classic people liked it. In TBC they made it slightly different but you still gained a bit more power for actually pushing rating.
Now you have just a mount and a title which the majority of the player base doesn’t aim for anyway.
Also, try not to speak for the majority of the PvPers because you are not. Legion had templates and barely any power lvl increase for PvP and was the least PvP played expansion so far.
Time will show how many matches going to be played. So far people complaining for lack of healers and as a healer main I barely play PvP right now because there is simply no incentive to push. I might do it at some point but atm the PvE progress simply makes more sense and has more value.
Which mmorpg are that?
And your argument with TBC is proving how wrong you are- TBC was the reason they took rating off pvp gear because players left in droves due not being able to have good fights - not being able to buy pvp weapons. And that is exactly when boosting became an issue.
Nice try, but never seen an argument backfire that bad.
In one sentence you claim the majority of PvPers don’t care about something (did you ask them?) and the one after that you ask the other poster not to claim that they are the majority opinion.
This, pretty much. Now the main reason for a PvPer to do arenas is if they actually enjoy them. If someone doesn’t understand why it is good to let players focus on the content they actually enjoy doing in the game I hope they never go near game designing.
There are still cosmetic prestige rewards. If that is not enough to motivate you then you must have been playing the game for the wrong reasons to begin with. Because it is a game, and it is meant to be fun.
BDWHAT? That asian grinder with almost no users?
The biggest and most successful mmorpg don’t use systems like that. WoW was at it’s peak without gearing curves. WotLk had no rating bound gear, Cata, WoD had similar systems to now and you’ll find almost no players that disliked it.
GW2 has no gear progression at all, you can enter as a level 2 into rated pvp.
FF14 has a system like WoW now.
Warhammer had a similar system. SWToR has a similar system, etc.
New World has a similar system.
If you like Asian grinders feel free to play one, but WoW isn’t for you then.
I’m having a hard time understanding why you find rating useless?
You sound like a PvE player complaining about PvP, because you don’t fully understand the motivation of doing PvP.
PvP is all about players going up against each other on the rating board, and trying to top it. That’s it
Sure there are also cool rewards for doing PvP, but those aren’t why we play it in the first place. And it is ESPECIALLY not to grind gear, which Blizzard finally did something good about in Dragonflight. That is a PvE motivation, and not something that should exist in PvP.
I enjoyed gearing and upgrading in shadowlands. It was cool to get more powerful at higher rating. But i guess people are lazy and want to do multiple modes at once so here we are… Still okay.
