What is the point of PvP rating

For PVP ? Whats the point of it ? its pointles now.
It means nothing. You gain nothing.
It seems they finaly did what they shoud have done years agon and put solo arena in this forsaken game.

Yes

Dragonflight killed PvP

What it meant before?

You could get better gear. Now even if you are the best PvPer, you are not even equal to a M+ high key guy in gear.
I used to push rating in PvP and then help out my friends (and other people) in M+ content. Now I am doing more PvE than PvP because there is no grind of value in PvP for me atm. Same goes for many other people.

You can still upgrade pve ilvl of pvp gear.

Except it’s pointless. By that time you have better PvE gear anyway.

  1. PvP players don’t play PvP for rewards, initially. They play PvP because - this may shock you - they enjoy it. Other competitive games such as StarCraft II don’t give you any reward at all for achieving a particular rank. You just play the game because you like the game.
  2. You actually do get rewards in WoW, all of which are time limited and unique: Elite PvP sets, illusions, mounts, and titles. Progression isn’t just about numbers.

Yeah. If you PvE.
I hate PvE, so I won’t do that. The current approach to PvP is perfect.

You could buy better gear.
And it never meant anything since there is so much wintrading, boosting and other stuff going on.
It had only negatives aspects.

It’s way better now.

nah now people dont have to do boring crappy arenas just to be able to fight on a even floor in pvp because nobody is doing rated bgs. Now blizz needs to add more bgs so people can start having more fun in pvp. Especially the ebg group needs more variation. You still get your title, mount and tmogs from ranked pvp.

Now people can do bgs or world pvp without being farmed by someone who bought an arena boost.

The difference between 1400 which ANYONE can get and 2k was 9 ilevels. You’re telling me 9 ilevel difference was causing you to get “farmed”?

How did you get 1400 in random bg?

arenas are not fun and nobody does rated bgs.

I must have dreamt doing a bunch of RBGs and then solo shuffle to gear my alts before DF then.

Most likely, because with “no rating” most pickup groups didn’t even invite you. So it would 've meant forming a group yourself and having Guardian and Rogue as mandatory parts of that group was a pain in the back.
I tried some times to get into RBG in the last season of SL, but no one wanted a feral druid and so my gear was capped at 288 (or smt like that) and everybody with better gear had a huge advantage.

I looked it up and it was that bad:

Cloth
+120 Intellect
+269 Stamina
+71 Haste
+96 Versatility
vs.

+346 Intellect
+791 Stamina
+207 Haste
+418 Versatility

Yeah, right, no difference.

You clearly have as whenever i look at rbg groups in the lfg tab its always empthy.

So yeah there is no reason why arena wintrader/boostbuyer chumps should dominate people in bgs. It never made sense that people doing random bgs never had acces to real pvp gear. Its still pvp and more players do bgs than arenas.

Woudln’t call it perfect. It lacks incentives. Right now everyone is playing, sure, it’s season start and everyone wants to cap anyway. But long term? Idk.

Incentives? You mean PvP. The incentive is to pvp for pvp’ers.

Now use the same logic for PvE.
Whoops, it fails.

I’ve played 5 years on a private server stuck at the same patch before coming to retail.

PvP players just want to PvP, the rewards are just a bonus.
