Not been on wow in a while now and I wonder how the RP population is doing. Are places such as Stormwind, maybe Dalaran and other possible hubs averting my mind well populated? And if so, how much, as I have not been on WoW for a while now. Thanks!
Not sure if this has been asked so I decided to do it.
far as I know, ERP has taken a hold in the stormwind harbor and adjacent areas
I still think you can find people in the mage district, infront of the cathedral and in the memorial area.
otherwise I know Duskwood is pretty lively at the moment, and redridge is sometimes used by a few people, Dalaran also sees some action, not sure which version.
Unfortunate that ERP has taken the harbor, but I do not think anyone even used it before. Ive never seen anyone rp down there when I used to wander SW daily. What about main SW itself? Like Mage Quarter and the Cathedral part.
Ignoring the harbour and its leaks (please report the people), SW is still well populated.
Legion Dalaran has RP, as does Duskwood.
Ah, good to hear Stormwind is doing well, besides all the ERP nonsense.
Can’t speak for the quality of the RP, I don’t think it has improved nor declined, but I could be wrong, as I have made effort to not RP in stormwind for a long time.
All of them have awful RP, but there’s also gems. It’s the way of things. It’s just sometimes the bad is so loud, the good becomes hard to pay attention to.
I am thinking of resubbing as I kinda miss RP, and Stormwind has been the best place to just wander around and talk to randos.
True enough, it really depends on the players you interact with. Duskwood for all its edge is not so bad, but it is a bit to populated for its theme at the moment.
like the zone theme is scary murder forest, but when you meet people traveling the road between Raven Hill and Darkshire every 5-10min or so it loses a bit of the horror.
still I’ve had my fun there.
Yeah that should still be easy enough, plenty of folk around for random walk ups.
Thanks for all the helpful insight! I appreciate it a lot.
I have good random encounters in SW on a regular the secret imo is not being one of those statues who has “approachable” in their trp, but rather…engage, find a “hook” to start a convo, I typicall use a “bounty” that Im looking for to strike up rp when randomly walking through the city like…I’ll pull out a poster with a various description ask if people have seen such individual and see how far the convo goes, SW is lively af but mostly statues, just be the go get’er and not the im gunna wait’er and you wont lack for rp in SW.
Edit: but like others stated, SW isnt even the only active hub, it is ofc like always the most active hub but Duskwood is decent/Redridge is …aight at times, Dalaran is pretty lit tbf, very very busy, like a mini SW, for North based rp you kinda need to be guilded up really
Edit2: Also the go getter vs the gunna waita is legit, I’ll patrol around SW and have maybe…3-4 encounters in less than an hour, some people be standing about for 3-4 hours n have zero encounters
Are you a guard?
Nah, just a really really good citizen of the Alliance, who certainly isnt just a scumbag out for a pay day, regardless of what some may say.
While the quality of the roleplay is subjective (as this thread has already proven), Stormwind remains the hub with the most quantity by far. It’s just about the only consistent venue for random walk-up RP to my knowledge*.
*yes I know that there are various other micro hubs around Azeroth, but they’re not really comparable for random encounters.
I think it’s more the case that the community is smaller and less active so the bad elements are more noticeable. Hopefully people will come back with Dragonflight.
You’ve got Stormwind with its full spectrum. Duskwood usually has some people hanging around the tree or the town. Lordaeron has people hanging around Hearthglen or Uther’s tomb often enough.
Kalimdor is desolated though, what with Theramore and Darnassus deleted and Exodar forever trapped behind a loading screen on an island. You might occassionally find people in Astranaar or Feathermoon but it’s a coin toss.
It’s pretty dire ngl, I just recently unsubbed and quit the game
We’re not that lucky
Boralus has some activity aswell, mainly from the Kul’tirans, but there has been a party there or two during the last month. I would say Stromwind, Duskwood, Dalaran, Boralus, Redridge and Elwynn Forest to some extend, like my guild roams Northshire from time to time, with the Royal Court there at times, and Eastvale has had a resurgence it seems. It is very pick and choose now adays, and as Sigtryggr says, it is easier if you try to socialize with others, instead of letting them come to you. As of current active events that I know of, there is some increased action around Stromgarde if I heard correctly the other day, aswell as there is a Dark Rider issue in Duskwood that some guilds seeks to tend to. Pretty fun and open encounter from what I have seen so far, and there is the Royal Court events, like the Tournament yesterday and Ball today.
