What is this?

What about this topic was even loaded lmao, the only knowledge on the topic you had was that the character was homosexual and somebody was acting weird around them.

You still love me, boyo

This is specifically why I asked for the context; you are wrong there. Homosexuality was only implied, and only after an onlooker (not the one who posted that message) pushed the IC conversation in a sexually loaded direction.

Eh you’re alright, just a bit smooth-brain

Just came off as weird, that’s all. You got your answers so I guess it’s something we can drop.

This is my characters profile if it helps in anyway:

Name is blurred for privacy, but I only have a name and an icon. No at first glances or titles, anything like that, so I wouldn’t say that my profile is overly suggestive or anything like that. Just very simple, basic and barely filled out. The situation was changed to a sexual one after the onlooker made it so, and then the person in question said what he said.

Honestly the context screenshot is quite “ehhh” too, because the guy is clearly treating homosexuality as something abnormal from the get go.

You shouldn’t be guilty until proven innocent just by virtue of playing a character that’s perceived as homosexual, and the increased suspicion that people treat queer characters as potential ERPers is a part of this server that really ought to go.

Didn’t Obahar already have his 2k+ topic on why being homophobic isn’t cool?

One of those dudes who thinks that:

Fantasy=Medieval=Alot of racism, homophobia and “Womenfolk” being subservient etc.

Two topics, since the first one got locked!

Yeah it was like, close to 5k posts together I think.

It might sound impressive, but it only reaches people visiting the forums, so unfortunately the message is lost on Stormwind-dwellers like shown in OP. :pensive:

This probably stems from being jaded but its really just an eyeroll at this point

“Either this conversation is purely professional or homosexual”

Yeah I didn’t see that screenie, now my autistic fury is directed at the onlooker

I think the funniest bit is that he got weirdly mad about them just basically going “Yes.” in response lmao

Sorry if it came out that way, I didn’t mean to sound liek I want to start an argument, I agreed with your post, I didn’t quote it to contest it.

It kind of is though, isn’t it?
I guess I could have worded it better, but what I was meaning by “call out” was talking to the player in a way that’s appropriate for the type of RP we don’t agree with that they’re doing.
So, if their RP is just cringe, calling out would mean offering them feedback, and if their RP is offensive, calling out would mean telling them to knock it off.

I don’t think there’s any situation where doing weird OOC snipes like the one in the OP would be considered good practice so perhaps context isn’t super important - breaking character to enter some OOC beef in brackets is basically always a rolling in the mud with the pigs tier response that I think basically 0 people on the forum should / will defend

However I think asking for context isn’t some malicious warcrime - it’s a drama post on the Argent Dawn EU forum. People are interested in what the shtick is / want to know why this man briefly thought it was really wise to say that towards OP’s pal because people acting goofy is basically interesting to watch / read about

To my fellow forum senators Loras & Mogi I think you are jumping the gun if you instantly take what is basically pressing the [Tell me more …] option on an Oblivion NPC for judgement towards the OP

That was the best bit!

From my side of things, it’s not really asking for context that was the issue – it was the way in which it was asked, which implied suspicion of sexually inappropriate RP (without any basis) rather than simply asking for more of the logs to better understand the situation.

I guess we can consider it a reflex, in a way; I related to some of the issues here because, in my experience, sometimes playing a gay character can lead to people assuming you either want to ERP (and get propositioned), or they assume your character’s sexuality is only relevant because of my ERP preferences.

I think my instant reaction here is based on bad experiences with responses like “but what were you doing”, but then again it could be argued that skeptics are only skeptical because of their own bad experiences. Still, even if it wasn’t their intent, the result definitely came across as being more skeptical of a queer character than a straight one.

It’s less a question of their intent but their phrasing, but it’s not a genuine issue, just nitpicking at this point.

Yeah that’s fair I understand 100% that sometimes there is malice behind questions like that and it’s hard to read tone online

I have had it before where someone propositioned an IC date to which I politely declined and explained I was already wishing to enter a relationship with my RL partner’s character. He was playing a female at the time, as was I. This person stated: “typical stormwind RP xD” in whispers, and then proceeded to whisper me on an alt every time I logged in stating: “disgusting lesbian” “go and erp you filthy lesbian” and so on so forth, you get the general gist. All because I declined his proposal to roleplay a relationship with him and no matter how many times I ignored him, he’d come back on another character, whisper me upon me logging in and throw some slurs and slander my way.
