What is your Favourite Starter Zone?

Where do you love to level, no matter how many times you’ve already done it before? Which starter zone do you like the most?

I always play belf but my fave starting area is Elwynn Forest as it was my first experience just after BC released.

Plus in wrath that is where I spent most of my time as a horde player.

Even though I’m horde through and through Elwynn is still the best starting zone by miles.

Dun Morogh was my first and will always be special to me. Especially starting as a Gnome in Gnomeregan/New Tinkertown.

Classic Elwynn Forest. Just purely due to nostalgia and fond memories of first area I played.

Easily it’s Mulgore for me. Such a relaxing atmosphere… plus my very first character was a Tauren Druid back in TBC and I’m pretty fond of the memories way back when.

Pre or Post Cataclysm?

The zone’s not changed that much with Cata, both.

we all know all the classic race are the best zones

But blood elf zone is by far the best there is. Thank you for making me remember those times when I was 10 playing my first character, it feels good

Easier to say which ones I don’t like (Mulgore, Echo Isles). For the rest of them, I like them all (yes even Exile’s Reach) but for different reasons, and they all have their flaws, so hard to say which is my favorite.

All starting zones. They add a great variety levelling multiple alts. Dragging 5+ alts through Expedition Island, BfA and Dragonflight only is not fun. I prefer the old levelling paths, no matter which race it is. I’ve done mostly the Alliance and the Undead ones but there was a lot of work put into the death knight and the demon hunter starting zone as well. I have not done the Dractyr yet. The more variety in levelling options, the better it is for me.

Eversong Woods. It’s looking a bit dated by modern WoW standards, but that golden forest will always be my favourite starting zone.

That’d be nowhere.

Going to work gives me more joy than the thought of having to go through WoW leveling again.
It’s boring, mind numbing and painful. One of my least favourite things to do in this game, alongside Torghast.

Humans starting zone… I do new characters every month just to get the “do 30 quests for the Trading Post”. I got sick of this zone but its fast. I create a Hunter and put some heirlooms. It kills everything in sec.

DH’s starting area seems the most epic and fun to me.

Wandering Isle I think… although the late quests were for a while (and may still be) so over-tuned as to be extremely frustrating. Up until then however, it’s a very enjoyable zone. Beautiful scenery, charming storyline that gives you a feel for the local society’s problems, beliefs and values.

Gilneas is pretty good too, there’s a sense of urgency and meaningfulness about the storyline - and I haven’t forgiven WoW for never going back to it.

But I do enjoy Elywnn and Mulgore too. They do a good job of explaining that you are a total nobody and making you prove yourself to advance. I don’t even mind the new starting island, I just don’t see a reason to run through it twice.

The OG human and night elf starting zones. When you hit play on your freshly created character and the music starts playing, the camera starts panning and the narration starts, always used to give me chills.

For me it is easily Teldrassil and Elwynn forest. Nothing beats these in my eyes.

Agree with this. It can be a nice introduction which offers racial background and flavour.

There is Exiles Reach for groups, or maybe they could pick the racial area of one group member ?

A beautiful area that stands out, some tlc would make it even better.

When I was a new player the Draenei area was cool and unique with haunting music.

Worgen and Goblins have very solid stories (driving a car was cool). It is rubbish them not making a new permanent racial area that reflects their aesthetic. (Would prefer goblins to be more interesting than just ‘fly tippers’ though )

I remember the night elf area used to feel awkward to traverse to get to quests when I was new. I prefer more helping nature, rescuing animals, planting and clearing, than demons.

Some starter area quests for the Dark iron dwarves, within Blackrock would be cool.

eg) Bar mini game
Repairing/animating statues
Assisting with mining, collecting tools.
Finding secret scrolls and translating the runes.
It could offer a boost to archaeology or new fun titles. ?

I would even start at level 1 for that. Being dumped straightaway in Stormwind is a bit meh.
