What is Your Most Nostalgic WoW Memory?

The first time I did Alterac valley way back in classic. I absolutely lost it at the buildings going on fire. And summoning Ivus and the giant elemental. Alterac valley could last from when i got home from school to when I went too bed back then xD Really good times

I was questing in Darkshore on my rogue, when i came across a guy, who had a pet bombling following him, and i asked where he got it, he said he made it with engineering and made me one for free, and then pointed out that wearing cloth shoulders on a rogue was wrong, and i should look for leather gear. Nice guy, he added me to his friendlist so i could ask him noob questions in my early days of wow.

Probably joining my first guild way back in TBC called Medium Rare while out questing in the Barrens, met up with a pair doing the dreaded escort quest towards Ratchet when we got to chatting.

And, ofc, my very first character in WoW… a Tauren Druid. The death cry of them Striders is super nostalgic.

Wherever I quest in TBC, I just see me and my friend levelling through it the first time.

I remember the first time I travelled from Razor Hill to the Gates of Orgrimmar (pre-Cataclysm revamp) with this very Hunter (minus a slight change to Mag’har Orc years later)! The winding road that led to such an active player hub, as it was back then. Duels outside the city, crowds of people by the Class Trainers, people offering to sell/trade various items, the spam accounts that would all mass-die outside the bank and/or Auction House to spell out their illicit websites…even guild chat back then where people would actually “ding” and “gz” achievements. Weirdly enough though, I’ve never been drawn to the Classic servers. I guess it’s because nothing is novel there unlike “the good old days”.

Sadly, WoW has become more single-player mode. I miss the social dynamic.

The first time I took a flightpath in open beta, was in Dun Morogh as we all rolled dwarfs, seeing all that as yet unexplored space it was just :open_mouth: , that’s what hooked me on wow.

Farming t0 sets with the guildies until 4 o’clock in the morning, I still miss em, they all stopped playing a long time ago.

My favorite memory is from when I made my first friend in WoW. Met them outside the entrance to Helfire Ramparts and we instantly bonded. We failed the dungeon. but someone in our group was kind enough to bring their level 80 Death Knight to clear it for us, even though he didn’t get any loot for his Alt.
We leveled to 70 together doing quests, dungeons and a bit of world PvP. He bought me my first flying mount (Snowy Gryphon) and I’ll never forget flying into Zangarmarsh for the first time.
Sadly I didn’t buy WoTLK, and we went our separate ways, but we still kept in contact by meeting outside the gates of Stormwind occasionally.
The last time I checked his profile (long long time ago) he had the Immortal title! Proud of him and jealous too :stuck_out_tongue:

This quote from Stephen King comes to my mind
“I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve.
Jesus, does anyone?”
― Stephen King, [The Body]
I was 14, not 12, but it rings true.

I was in a WSG many years back and the other team had 5 rogues so I knew our flag carrier was done for. I was on my hunter and flared the entrance to the roof we were on and managed to kill 2 rogues. Our FC died I picked it up and disengaged off the roof towards the hand in and right as I landed and died on the hand in we retuned our flag and it counted as a capture and we won. That guy whispered me I was pro. Very lucky.

Very similar in WSG I was on my rogue and in our flag base I vanished and dropped the flag sapped their healer killed their FC and killed both then handed in. The team went crazy in that chat was fun! (I died like 10 secs later but w.e)

So many memories… I think the one I like best is when I bumped into some night elves who were going to be married in Darnassus, and they invited other people along in Stormwind. I traveled with them, we chatted, had fun on the boat, and then I saw Darnassus for the first time which was just… woah!

The whole random bumbling along, having fun together, making friends while doing silly stuff sums up vanilla times for me. It was amazing

Warlords of Draenor launch.

I met my girlfriend end of MoP. We were prog through Siege mythic. We recruited her , she was an ele shaman. Anyways 12 weeks later we were a couple , she lived 2 hours from me.

Moving forward I asked her to move in with me. We completely no lifed Warlords of Draenor for 2 weeks. It was just great to play with someone , experience everything fresh with someone you cared about.

I just couldn’t have been happier , new wow expansion with someone I cared about.

One of my most nostalgic memories is interacting with GMs in game. Seeing the little blue Blizzard logo before their name in whispers was always exciting, especially when they greeted me warmly with something like, ‘I saw you had an issue with… and I believe I have the solution for you.’

Sometimes they’d even crack jokes or, on rare occasions, appear in front of me wearing their iconic GM robes. Those moments felt so personal and magical, like the game’s creators were right there with us in Azeroth.

Who would’ve thought, I’d be left ‘whispering’ my woes to ticket bots,17 years later.
