What made you choose and stick by your class?

I originally started out as paladin, on a private WOTLK server. My co-worker asked me if I want to play wow together with his guild, and I said sure. I picked paladin because I was always leaning towards the goody-two-shoes type of classes, and while I did have an interest in other classes as well (I always leaned towards spellcasters in RPGs) they didn’t have the class available in the races I want to play, so I put it aside.

When I joined retail back in WoD I still stick to paladin as a main, but I also began leveling a monk alt on the side. I found Windwalker’s playstyle incredibly fun and satisfying so I got more attached to the character, and as a result began performing better on him.

Legion brought a slight change. I still kept my paladin, but I had to roll over to retribution because a DPS friend of mine wanted to tank, and our main tank said outright that he cannot and will not DPS, so I was told to swap.

Paladin remain my main character until Uldir, where on a lot of fights I had to sit out progression due the inherent flaws of the class (we had a stable tank duo already, and paladin wasn’t performing well enough to warrant bringing two into the raid, and retri was melee in a pretty melee unfriendly raid). At that point I leveled up a hunter to use on progress fights which were anti-melee (fetid devourer) and I also kept my monk leveled on the side (mistweaver, which was a really good pick for G’huun).

After Battle of Dazar’alor I was asked to stay on my hunter as a main, and my paladin and monk stay as an alt for fights where we needed a tank. By Ny’alotha I was getting bored of hunter gameplay, and vulpera was announced to become playable in 8.3, so I decided this is the time for me to give a try to mage.

I have been maining mage up until now. The only reason why I am not maining him now is because my guild went through a restructuring near the end of SoD, and my guild leader asked me if I can tank for the raid group instead. My monk is my main since then.

I was also playing a warlock on Alliance side.

Why I went through all these characters? I like both paladin and monk because they are the perfect type of hybrids imaginable (if only their melee spec would be ranged instead). They can both tank and heal, which I like doing, and I have the option to DPS on them if that is needed.

Hunter was an important stepping stone for me to transition from melee to ranged gameplay. It was pretty simple to play, but still allowed me enough freedom to do raid calls and handle mechanics without losing out on too much DPS. Mage I like for its versatility, and Fire provides a gameplay that so far no other class was able to replicate. Your burst phases are fast paced, and getting a perfect combustion rotation in is always satisfying.

Warlock I like too for the large amount of utility they have, on top of being extremely tanky. My favored spec is currently gutted in PvE right now (Affliction) so that soured my opinion of him.

With cross-faction available I think I am just going to stick with my mage and my monk as main characters.

I had 2 level 60s at the time, and the people who I played with said I was a bad tank, but a good DPS. So I just played my DPS class more.

More recently it started to become apparent they think I’m a better healer than I am a DPS

But I really just want to be my Tank :(.

That sounds like they are subtly telling you to fill out the gaps for roles they do not have.

No, TBH, I was a bad tank

I still main my DPS, but I get regular invites to Heal now my Healer is set up to go (although, I’m not playing atm).

As a M+ player I played many, and tried to keep them updated, but one by one has been nerfed, or can’t compete, to almost be unplayable in M+, so now I just kinda gave up and don’t play much…if I don’t like the offspecs it is not fun. Last I played was BM. Try to que as a BM? No…

Wish they didn’t have so many systems so they aren’t able to balance the game.

Played Priest for ages but now like warrior maybe most

I play all classes and chose the spec that is most in demand for each (so 6 tank specs, the 2 healing specs for those who can’t tank, and for the 4 that can only dps an easy / fotm spec).

I ended up maiming as a shaman healer because it is the one class/spec that gets you in group easiest.

I have also all classes and some for every differend spec but mostly i liked healer classes well maybe my monk healer i have played least. Kinda made it just to see how it works then forgot whole class. Tanking is just not My thing so i leave that to those who do it better and enjoy it. Shaman was longtime my favourite too but not have played it longtime. Today its warrior, druid or hunter for me

For me this one is simple, it was fun to swap from melee to ranged, it almost gave me a new way of playing a game I’ve loved for a long time.

I’m not the sort to be interested in “meta” specs, I just stick with what I like, so I can smile with my team as we clear whatever is lined up for the night.

I don’t really want the responsibility of tanking or healing, so DPS specs all the way for me!

I play Warlock from the beginning and even though I changed classes, I always go back to him. I like everything, control over demons, demon portals, how you can adapt any race that has the ability to play this class in You can call a dark magician  The only thing that hurts me is that he runs very slowly

I do occasionally switch characters but I always return to my BM Hunter and the reason for that choice was Rexxar.

made my first hunter on 25/11/ 2004 the first hunters were the best and having to train your cat so he could lean new abilities and having to make you own arrows or bullets they were so much better to play then not like the dumbed down chars they are today
