You would get different results based on the version of Warcraft that is being played.
Completed. Good luck with your study!
As I went through it, I was expecting (hoping?) for follow-up questions like: if you can identify with characters, what about them makes them relatable? and a lot of my “Somewhats” were related to expansions - for example, I don’t find any Dragonflight characters and stories relatable, but there certainly used to be many compelling characters.
As Alradax says:
You would get different results based on the version of Warcraft that is being played.
The same thought crossed my mind. It might be interesting to add some questions about whether/how emotional engagement with the game itself or its stories has changed over time. I’m guessing some questions might get stronger responses that way, instead of a seemingly more ‘lukewarm’ experience in general.
done, and good luck
Good luck!
its not very immersive anymore, not in about 10 years now. However if you want to see for yourself, go to the forsaken starting zone or eversong woods and level for a short while. You will understand.
It’s the music, the environment, the whole zone has an atmosphere to it unlike anything in the game since cata.
The truth is blizz has re-sold the same game for the 10th time to (mostly) the same audience.
Adventure and immersion happen when players think they’re in control and that they’re pursuing goals they’ve set for themselves. It’s an illusion, because the devs always know how you’ll play the game and what you’ll do.
Eventually players discover the patterns and templates, and poof, the magic is gone.
You know that feeling you get when playing a completely new game for the first time? You’re not gonna get it from the 5th DLC.
Argent Dawn makes this game immersive. The only server that makes me feel like the world is alive and full of story and adventure.
I want to talk about this. I’ve considered going there because of how the game world works, but I’m confused. How precisely does it differ? Is it just the way people are playing it or does it handle CRZ and layers differently? I heard it did in the past but I’m out of the loop.
I’d give almost anything for a better sense of world and community.
It’s mostly the random and constant interactions with people. In character, and not in character.
I’ll be sat AFK eating food on a break, and there’ll be a ceremony in Orgrimmar, or some storyline in Stormwind going on.
I remember not so long ago there was a literal 3 day campaign roleplay going on in Orgrimmar. The story was so good. I don’t RP myself, and I don’t know how they manage to type out what they say so fast, but it was extremely interesting, and got me invested. It was almost like a storyline from a good questline Blizzard made.
I sat on the roof hiding on my flying mount while staring at people talking. It was some war preparation. It was so entertaining and made me feel like the world was alive.
And if you want a good old fashion laugh, Goldshire exists, where the most unhinged, and crazy stuff happens.
AD is insane, in the best way possible. I’ve thought about transferring all my main characters there recently.
It reminds me of WoW classic.
I’d highly recommend even leveling a character exclusively questing on the server and seeing how you feel. I’ve had more interactions on AD than I have on Aggramar in years.
Do you have an rp addon like TRP installed Coral? The profiles people make can add even more to that feeling!
And I think if it wasn’t for AD I would have quit years back Ishayo. The roleplayers keep some of the old magic alive despite Blizzard It’s more quiet than it used to be tho, the crappy storytelling + scandals have impacted the rp scene as well. It’s still a lovely realm tho.
not at all true. i had the same feeling in drustvar. drustvar is the best zone blizzard has made in the better part of 12 years.
Done as well, best of luck with your studies. ^^
As a fellow gamer who finished his bachelor in Political Science a few years ago, I hope you receive some useful data for your thesis.
I would have perhaps added a control question for Immersion addon usage, but this is potentially something that you can discuss as part of methodology. Best of luck in your studies!
