What other MMOs you like/liked?

I really liked Guild Wars 2, the only thing that was a bit offputting was the fact that ALL the progress was cosmetic, PvP had templates, the gear you got was just for show etc, while the game was fun it stopped being an MMORPG at max level.

Like you could make these beautiful legendary weapons that cost fortunes to craft and took months to build, but at the end of the day it was literally just a skin. It didn’t affect your game in any way. Kind of dulled the experience.

ESO and GW2 are solid and I’ll probably start playing them again (they’re alt friendly, only have very few timegates, RNG isn’t that much of an issue and gearing is made fun instead of trying to turn it into a competitive esport). WoW feels just oppressive with it’s current game philosophie and I honestly have enough of Activision Blizzards garbage.

Not the biggest fan of ESO’s combat system but it’s still much more fun than this 15 year old tab target cast time simulator.

I think the game died because most people seemed only invested in the story part of the game and when they were done with it they just moved on.

I got bored of the game because the open world felt like a movie scene the “open” world was just a set piece with invisible walls everywhere and the amount of loading screens swtor has is just insane.

I also was never that invested in gameplay of swtor it just felt so clunky compared to wow and i know lot of people loved the game for its storylines but the story never really got interesting enough for me to continue the game. I think it was level 33 or something when i just quit because i hated Alderan so much to me it might be one of the worse zones in any game i have ever played.

I checked out the game after it went F2P but as everything cool was but on store i just kind of lost interest for the game.

Tried quite a bunch whenever i took break from wow.
Most noticable probably was 3.

  1. ESO - tried it 2 times and bouth times couldn;t reach 2 hour mark of play time. Combat is just horible world and graphic is okish. I like single player ESO games tho.
  2. FFXIV - played for some 5 hours or so got bored uninstaled just not my style.
  3. GW2 - probably only other online game then WOW that i realy like. World is beautiful, zone have minor and major events that you can join and actualy see other players. I can jump into it whenever i want and don;t feel like i missed out on things since there is no gear progression besides cosmetic. Legendary crafting is nice in a way since you get realy cool skins and can swap stat on the go to be more tanky or deal more damage. Now waiting for the new annouced expansion and definetly gona take break from wow to play it.

Also like to mention old day one Silkroad - damn that was grind incarnate.

SWTOR - cuz Im a huge Star Wars fan and I played KOTOR and KOTOR II multiple times.

Me too. I still play it once in a while, when I want to do a class campaign. The Agent campaign at least, I can’t get enough of.

I really enjoyed FF14 but the combat is just way to slow and stiff for me. However the way they approach professions is probably the best any mmo ever has.

I have played many different mmo’s
I have played runescape for the longest time even way before I played wow and whatever anyone else says it does have its own unique gameplay and minigames.
And yes I also liked it for a long time even though I do not play it anymore.

another would be eso the storyline of the elder scrolls has kept me facinated long before eso came out and its still amazing and one of the few games that lore wise is up to pair with wow easily if not bigger.

the others i have played I quit not because they were bad but for some reason i just could not keep playing them.

Early SW:TOR was great. It was similar to pre-Cata WoW and had similar talent trees. Unfortunately it had no end game and people dropped it. It had such potential.

Then they follow WoW trends. Made whole leveling process piece of cake, changed talent system and went for these RPG expansions and now it’s crap.

Oldschool runescape, for some reason it’s the only other one I’ve played more than a week of and at least still poke at. Even I don’t understand why it’s stuck with me but it has, just like WoW. (Wish it had customizeable UI and more races to play as, though…) I am hoping Diablo 2 resurrected brings back battlenet play for Diablo 2 if that counts as an mmo.

WoW Classic, Wizzard101, I tried Guild Wars 2 but really little, I liked combat a lot there, I love Tera, and if Albion and Path of Exile counts.

GW2 have definitely nailed how to treat the open world…

Only L2, though I wish I would start WoW 2 years earlier instead of playing it.

GW2 and ESO. I still occasionally play GW2. Awesome combat, animations, interesting classes/specs, solid pvp in general. I love gearing system and legendary items in that game. ESO… A beautiful living world, interesting characters and stories and that’s it. Combat is tragicomic, very outdated. This game serves me only for relaxation and nothing serious, literally. I also tried FF14 and BDO and I didn’t like those games at all.

City of Heroes/Villains was really good from what I remember. There was also a strong RP community I think, or at least I loved to go around and inspect people to see what background they had come up with for their hero.

Besides wow i play gw2 and swtor. Gw2 is my favourite, i love then open world content (especially huge mapwide meta events), best mounts in any mmorpg, beautiful transgmogs and armor dyeing. Professions are not only fun but also usefull - you can craft best gear if you got patience and cook amazing buff foods (best ones offering multiple buffs not just your fighting power but also xp and currency gains/loot luck). Swtor i love for it’s amazing story telling and fun housing.

I used to play Warhammer Online and i loved it, it’s a shame that game went down. If it would be still up and running in official servers i would still play it.

I also used to play Rift, it is great game but i have just slowly dropped out if.

I have tried ESO, couldn’t get over the control system being too different from my “holy trinity” of wow, gw2 and swtor. WIldstar was ok, but too focused on high end content so i quit. FF14 i have tried twice but can’t get over the “run here and talk to this guy” chains at start that feel like they never stop. Also not a fan of artstyle.

I can write down many other games I like next to WoW but the ones that I loved most were GW2 and Wildstar.
Final Fantasy is imo the best game ever but only the console versions.
As for WoW, sometimes I get bored sure but I always come back and been like that for almost 15 yrs. I love WoW :green_heart:

I played lineage2 hardcore. Pvp and sieges and the overall vibe of that game is amazing. Been ages ago though. Got some good memories of huge pvp battles. Guilds vs guilds. Would play again if I were younger.

I’ve played them all
EQ2-ESO-Rift-Warhammer-Vanguard-SWG-SWtor-LOTRonline

So far I do miss Star Wars galaxies, it was huge and so many things to do and respec to discover pieces to a Jedi

EQ2 was another favorite Do to do the group and quest system and hidden placeholder discoveries etc etc and the group specials you could pull off Heroic Oportunities ftw !!

ESO is nice and I love the world but gameplay is a bit laggy do to visual effects being to big

Happens a lot with games
Where end game takes to long to develop thus people give up on it :frowning:
