I just can’t make up my mind it seems. I want to make a character that’s an adventurous soul you could say. I see her being curious, a little daring, social, wanting to see new things but also loyal and keen on protecting her kin and the Alliance. Not a military person, but knows her way in a fight.
Might be super generic I don’t know, but that’s the base idea that I want to work with, but I can’t decide whether to go with Gnome or Dwarf? What race would fit that concept best in your opinion? (It’s the two races I see myself play and RP and that’s why those are the options) You’re welcome to share any thoughts

Dwarf! Gnomes seem less about exploration for the sake of it to me! They usually have a goal! Dwarves are more in the moment!

Actually… Pandaren. Female Pandaren.
Or Vulpera
Just sayin’
Thanks for your input
will give it thought
I know. I’ve tried making a Pandaren so many times, I just can’t do it, it’s something I don’t like, and I’m not a big fan of their culture with the celestials and sha and speaking in idioms (I say that with an easy tone, I know that’s not all with them).
I was excited for Vulpera, I got the rep, I unlocked them, I made one, and then I just… meh. I don’t know, maybe “animal” races aren’t for me
Might give Vulpera another go though, but one thing speaking against them is them being Horde, I’m more of an Alliance player :3 On the other hand, maybe it’s the change I need, I’ll keep Vulpera in mind.
Both races fit this idea equally well; if you can’t decide, flip a coin.

Trust me, I hate the Horde with passion
You could be a travelling vulpera, armed with tons of potion to understand the alliance friends
Just avoid the cities with guards to trigger Warmode

Dark Iron dwarves get a mole machine, which could be a nice bonus for an adventurous type.

Honestly, this concept is broad enough to apply to any Alliance race.
Gnomes can be very inquisitive, but dwarfs are often gregarious types who could well be exploring in search of a good inn.
A gnome could be daring because they’re willing to risk plenty in pursuit of an experiment that preoccupies them. Or they could just appear daring because they’re terrible at risk appraisal.
A dwarf might be daring because they want to live up to the reputation of their clan or ancestry.
A gnome might see themselves as too smart for the military - or a dwarf might be too stubborn a type to adhere to strict military discipline.
There is enough backstory for gnomes and dwarfs to both have the attributes you describe, so I’d think about other details that matter to you; do you want your character to be affected by their birthplace having been contaminated and largely abandoned, for instance? Otherwise, it’s just about making a choice based on aesthetics.

You make a good point, and all those examples sounds fun
I will review four brief ways this could pan out in respect of races.
Gnome
Gyrocopter mail delivery pilot turned transport specialist. Loves to chat and believes old school values like letter writing is important to keep alive. She reads some of the undelivered/unmarked mail and dreams of finding whoever it’s meant for. Crashed a few times, so learnt some survival skills. Her dad was a gyrocopter pilot in the second and third wars, so she’s quite patriotic.
Dwarf
Turned up to the Explorers League Academy one day, with visions of ruins, adventures and exotic beings, found old rusty dwarves pouring over scrolls. This wasn’t the Brann Bronzebeard legend she heard so much about! So she set off on her own to learn the old fashioned way. On her travels she’s met all sorts in taverns and the like as she gathers information about local areas and hidden stories, in search of “the next big dig”, and probably got into more drunken fights than she cares to admit.
Dark Iron
See above, but add in a frosty reception from the dwarves at the academy, spurring her to prove them wrong and that she has what it takes!
Mechagnome
Liberated and deprogrammed former sentry of Mechagon. This individual is still growing accustomed to the freedom granted to her by her rescuers, although she still has that security back coding that causes her to want to absorb even new experience to know her surroundings and the people in it. She can handle herself in a fight as her combat hardwiring was unable to be deprogrammed, so she has the ability to fight well, without knowing how, it just happens! She has an uneasy time with being this lethal but not understanding why. She is prone to attaching herself to travellers she meets to learn what freedom means.

make a dwarf
dwarf adventure is the bhest game mode
also the Explorers’ League is a dwarven thing
but mostly dwarf is the best race for any character just because

Dwarf hunter, with a gryphon. Exploring and accessing to places you otherwise couldn’t with your trusted winged companion.

Blizzard kinda pushed the gnomes into the way that they seem to be mostly ‘‘explorer’’ when it comes to finding out about their own origin such as seen with Mechagon and overall exploring Northrend.
Dwarves at the other hand seems more interested in digging deeper into the history of Azeroth as whole instead of only focusing on their own origin.
But it have been so many years now that pretty much any race can be a pretty decent explorer so don’t hesitate to go into less traditional explorer race and go that path.

Both work to me honestly, I guess playing either a dwarf or a gnome changes How you go out in ‘adventure mode’.
Like gnomes might use some invention to help them in issues while your dwarf could use their brawn or something.
Both races are in the Explorer’s League so they can be almost identical.

Either work, and to fit the character idea id suggest a monk as the class. lots of traveling, casual leather armor. good aesthetic!
