There seems to be a significant surge in player population on Stitches since yesterday (Oct 15), at least in the major cities and lower level zones . (In my opinion this is most unpleasant, but that is not the point.) I’m curious if this is just my imagination, or others have noticed as well? If the surge is real, can anyone offer any insight as to what has caused it?
SOD hype = dedge… And people realising that cata is a bit of a step up after farming lich king and ruby
People want classic WoW gameplay and Era is swarmed with GDKPs. That leaves Hardcore. SOD is pretty clear that is not attracting most of the Classic Audience and I have no idea why Cataclysm is not a Remix on retail.
Since we were excluded, we have our own 20th Anniversary Celebration in HC, Era and SoD and many of us believe that there is a Era refresh, TBC or classic+ announcement soon.
It isn’t a sudden surge in players.
It was the layers going away like they do every Wednesday server reset , which means all players will play in the same layer, which makes it seem like there are suddenly a huge amount of people all at once.
People are usually split between 3-5 layers so you usually don’t see them.
Every reset the layers get turned off until the world buffs later in the evening happen and they’ll all come back again until the next Wednesday reset.
Because Cataclysm is fine and like ICC untill DS. In fact we also see a surge right now, maybe it has to do with 20th anniversary and we having new raid in two weeks IDK.
Idk why ppl talk about cata but its tge lowest raid scene in all of the expsnsions. Maybe tbc was kinda the same for the while.
But im guessing the rumours that a new hc server is coming and streamers hyping it a bit increase pop.
Also classsic and hc ususlly get spikes after a year or so not plsying it.
Happend with era servers like 1 year ago. That servers were “dead for a year” then suddenly they went full again.
Maybe Guzu (streamer) hyped things up when he started leveling on Stitches few days ago.
RIP Gobble
People started coming back to HC two months ago, not because of some soy internet celebrity.
I can only speak for myself, my friends and the guild I’ve been in.
- SoD really went into a weird direction…
- Era is full of GDKP
- Cata is a raidlogging simulator with a dead open world
So even though we all miss pvp, hardcore feels the most like real World of Warcraft right now
Stop it, Cataclysm has more in common with WotLK than with Retail. I have played both and I can certainly say that the only thing that changes is the old world and the addition of transmogs. But the class feel is the same as Wrath. Also it is a raid logging expansion like WotLK.
Cata has a lot of homonization of classes. Heroics and raids are a lot harder and less imaginative. Min-maxing is worse than in cata (rogues on spine anyone). And the overall feel of Cata is just a lot less immersive than tbc or wotlk. Outside of raids you had little incentive to log in since archeology is terrible
WotLK was the same.
This started in WotLK.
Hard mode Ulduar, Hard mode ToGC , Heroic ICC?
Nax was just a copy paste raid of a Classic raid with new bosses.
ToGC was the laziest raid ever created.
Then there is Ruby Sanctum which is a WotLK raid which people forget it exists.
TBC had aliens and space ships. Compare that feel to Vanilla or WotLK and Cata.
The whole world gets changed, the persnonal things all get account bound, the attack and talent points systems get changed. everybody have more buttons - basically the same more buttons, abilities are auto-taught … Mayhaps it is closer to Wrath than to Retail, but it’s just not fun anymore.
WotLK was the same.
WotLK was a lot alt friendlier, creating incentive to play other characters
This started in WotLK.
In Cata mages got bloodlust, druids buff changed to kings, bom and bs … Nothing like that in WotLK
Hard mode Ulduar, Hard mode ToGC , Heroic ICC?
Cleard all of those fairly easy once you had the tactics down. In Cata you had to stack untill you outgeared the raid
Nax was just a copy paste raid of a Classic raid with new bosses.
A raid that like 5% of the playerbase had played and had more interesting mechanics than most cata raids, but yeah it was super easy, a bit like Kara
ToGC was the laziest raid ever created.
Most people were still progressing in Ulduar when it was released and when it launched it was refreshing to have a raid without trash but it got boring real quick since you had to do normal and heroic 25 man and heroic 10 man for gear progression
Then there is Ruby Sanctum which is a WotLK raid which people forget it exists.
Probably added because Cata wasn’t ready
TBC had aliens and space ships. Compare that feel to Vanilla or WotLK and Cata.
TBC had Vash, KT and Illidan, cata had ragnaros and deathwing

It’s the same as WotLK they just deleted or combined talents which were like 1% more hit, more damage or damage reduction
Like only the mounts/transmogs and some items, the reps are still character bound.
That doesn’t make Cataclysm retail, they have been reducing the amount of buttons in retail since BfA/Shadowlands because people started complaining in WoD that there were too many buttons.
I don’t see the fun in having to go to a NPC to click and learn some skills instead of learning by lvl. It made sense in Vanilla because of the open world, but not in TBC, WotLK.
That’s false, it’s easier to lvl up and get gear in Cata
They made this change so 3/4 paladins are not needed per raid. In WotLK they made Shaman totems and buffs raid wide, instead of group buffs, same logic as this and you don’t see people complaining about this WotLK change.
Logs don’t corroborate this, WotLK lost a huge chunk of players in Ulduar because HM was too hard for them, also a lot of guilds couldn’t defeat LK in HC.
Nope, they removed the freedom to set your talents as you wanted, they gave new powers - like holy powers for Paladins.
Yes - that and almost all achievements
It so does for me - I had fun starting over and choosing which skills to learn this time around.
For me a new character is a new entity, not an expression of the account, and Cata ruined this big time.
