I’m a simple guy. I do main quest chains and then do the rest. Usually it’s enough to reach the cap.
And honestly, I’m impressed how that didn’t work this time. If you focus on main storyline, you’ll end questing campaign at level 76. Next campaign quests require lvl 80. Part of side quests gives 80 lvl rewards which you’re unable to use in next 4 levels. Side quests and delves XP amount is jokingly low.
Never have I ever ranted about leveling at the start of addon, but what the actual…
I just finished zone 2 and reached 80.
So if you would instead of doing solely the main story and instead do some side quests you prob would level to 80 just as you finish the last zone’s story.
if you stick to side quests only, you tend to be under leveled. Doing both main and side quests help. Also for each level 80 you have, you get an exp boost. But no, this is not an only OP thing. Many people from my friends guild been experiencing the same.
If you only do the main campaign quest and absolutely nothing else you won’t reach 80. This was known since beta. You’re at like 77.6 if you don’t do anything else (and I mean anything else)
Was the same case in shadowlands during release. If you only did the campaign you got locked until you reached level X to proceed to the next zone.
Whats the actual problem? “Dum de dum I’m level 75 and this campaign is wrapping up”. Maybe I should do a dungeon, side quest or one of the many many bonus objectives to get some XP!?"
Thinks to self, “naw, maybe the last storyline quest will just jump me to 80, I always leveled through the storyline in the past!”
I had a friend get to level 78 in the first zone, you need to judge the pacing a little yourself there…
I took my warlock through the first two zones and that was enough to hit level 80.
I jumped on my hunter and within a handful of quests and the mere 5% boost that comes from completing the campaign…he’s currently level 72 and not even done with the first zone.
I did the MSQ until I got to Dornegal, then spent 6 hours doing nothing but professions (mostly pilfering serevite bolts and sifting through scrap) and joking with my guildmates about how while I wasnt´t necessarily Dadghar´s biggest fan, i had no issue with him and Knifu was slowly starting to make this personal by blowing up Dalaran… and then just did my usual “get loremaster while leveling” routine, did the dungeons on follower mode and the delves when they came up in teh storyline. And the first quest quest to go to Hallowfall dinged 80 on turn in.
Just run a few side quests or nhc dungeons and you´ll be able to continue the campaign in no time
Why do they even bother marking Campaign quests then? If we should just be doing all quests then fine.
I get where the OP is coming from. I like to do the main Campaign first, get the story and the lay of the land, unlock the flight masters etc.
Then I can go do side quests (although I’d quite like to do those on an alt so they get a different leveling experience, not having to just repeast the same over again).
In DF I ended up doing all the side quests on Gram anyhow since they provide so much Renown. I thought they’d learnt from this and removed Renown from side quests so we weren’t forced into doing them on our mains.
Not sure I’m that bothered to play alts that much anymore in any case so I’ll end up doing the side quests on Gram this expac too.
I am still in Isle of Dorn, 2 parts remaining to complete the Sojourner achievement for it, no dungeons done, 1 delve, and I’m already 4 bars away from 76. Something went wrong when you speedran the content.
It seems that nobody here has reading comprehension, nobody is complaining about leveling being difficult, or asking how long it took you to reach 80 (nobody cares).
OP is just saying it feels weird to finish the entire campaign and not reaching 80 while having more campaign unlocked just after hitting 80. That break feels pointless, i don’t get it, why can’t we just do everything while leveling?.
For the record, it took me entire sojourner of Azj-Kahet and a bunch of Delves to reach 70 post-campaign. While I understand the entire “yeah just do some side quests during mainline duh” point, it feels very badly designed considering that the game literally leashes you through main questline and suggests that you should end it first and foremost, and come back to side quests later. So leaving player after that saying “now go back to side quests cause you still need four levels lol” is not the greatest design.
I done all the campaign, some side missions and ran delves about 10 times and I got to 78. The rest I just started doing world quests and a couple of other random side quests and then I hit 80. I see no problem tbh, it felt better than Dragonflight leveling.
