What to catch up on after the break? [WoW Retail]

Hi guys! I plan to come back and play a bit before the next expansion, trying to catch up and do/explore everything I’ve missed because I’ve played only 2 months of Dragonflight’s expansion.

Would you be so kind to tell me what should I do after coming back to the game? My char’s 70 but just reached The Azure Span zone. I’ll do all the storyline quests and all side quests or patch quests (if they still can be done), dungeons and raids. But what else? What should I focus on? Are there any important quests, achievements, items, toys etc to do/find/loot?

Should I level up my proffs (Ench/JC)? Which specializations should I choose? And what about this huge Crafting Order (Artisan’s Consortium) system - I haven’t really started doing anything about it, is it worth doing?

I suppose for doing all the quests, I have a little advice.
You will be overwhelmed with quests and not know which order to do them in and be stuck in the horrors of timey-wimey chaos.
When I am replaying an expansion fully, I completely forget what order some things came out so I look up on the WoW Wikipedia which content came out in which patch, and do them in the according order.

Levelling professions right now is mostly pointless as in a few weeks, they’ll be obsolete. However, if you want the appearances from it or just for completion then of course it is worth your time but you won’t max out on anything for many, many weeks.

Please note that the crafting order system isn’t really used by most people atm except for alts or guilds/friends/family. It will change slightly in TWW I believe but I am not the best person to explain it so hopefully someone else will!

This exactly. I honestly gave up with DF and I’m doing Pandaria Remix now, which is a lot of fun.

I would do that and then re-evaluate. Just doing the campaign quests, which are partly locked behind reputation/renown requirements, and the stray side quests, will keep you occupied for a while.

I would not bother with professions at this point. There are almost no catch-up mechanics for professions and you simply can’t catch up, especially not within the time left before the next expansion.

What I do suggest doing is the Awakened LFR once your item level is sufficient (do some HC random dungeons to get there), just for the ancient bullions (currency for high-end gear, mounts, and transmog). There IS a catch-up for this and you can catch up within 2-3 IDs by just doing LFR.
