What to do before Shadowlands?

Hi! Returning play here, been playing for a few weeks now.
I wonder… besides choosing main for shadowlands, what are your tips to prep the best for shadowlands?

What profession do you suggest for shadowlands? (I’m considering to main a druid, but I don’t know I always have a hard time to pick a main lol).

I think I’ve got a lot of work to do, getting all druid skins, pathfinders… etc… but I want all of your tips to be best prepared for the next expansion!

Every expansion now has completely separate profession level ranges, so there’s no reason whatsoever to level up BfA professions in preparation for SL.

I don’t think there’s anything one really can prepare for that will give you some kind of a relevant boost in SL. Just play WoW for whatever you enjoy at the moment.

I’m just leveling some alts and doing a little bit of M+ here and there until my subscription runs out in 2 weeks. Then I’ll probably take a summer break and return once SL or 9.0 is out.

You can’t prepare for shadowlands. The moment it arrives, after leveling up 3~4 levels, your entire bfa gear becomes useless.

So instead, go and farm transmogs and mounts and other collectible stuff. Go after things that will be gone with shadowlands, like the curve and the mount that comes with it, etc.

I’m mostly farming gold and stocking up on BFA tmogs that will go up in price in shadowlands. Don’t bother with WoD and Legion pathfinders, in shadowlands they won’t be needed for flying ( you can still do them for the achiv since it gives a mount). As for classes don’t know what to recommend yet based on what’s on alpha, in my case i’ll stick to DH. You can try leveling some alts so you have from where to choose when the exp launches and professions to make some extra gold now to have in shadowlands(tip: gathering proffs are always great gold makers in the beginning of expansions). Try doing current content that will either be removed in shadowlands like Ahead of the curve, getting the 5 mil longboi mount or will be hard to access like getting the warfront vendor mounts(the ones for service medals, doubt lots of people will be doing warfront when shadowlands launches) same for island expeditions, try farming dubloons for the weekly chests from the vendor that drop mounts(don’t know how expeditions will work in shadowlands, they’ll probably add some scaling, or not and we’ll be able to solo farm them, not known yet)

as an engineer there are some old expansion recipes worth having, not sure if it’s the same for other professions.

Mind you, there’s advantage to having slightly better gear: there’s a huge power difference between ~385 and ~460 gear. That 460 gear will allow you to get through those first 2-3 levels much faster.

get the cloak to level 12 for the dmg proc. will help with leveling a bit

besides get to like 450 itlv to have smooth leveling in initial zones.

gear gets squished too so the difference will be minimal

albeit it will be smoother first zone.

Yes, it will, but the power difference will be present, and making the first few levels easier is still something one can easily do in preparation. In other words, gear isn’t important, but it helps to have a good set.

If you have little gold then build it up, that’s about it. The greens you get levelling will be almost as good as your good BfA stuff.

I’m just wondering about when they will allow us to update the Heirlooms.

Honestly, just unsub.
