Hi guys I never had a lot of gold but in SL i decided to start earning. I made 3M in 3 days and im afraid I will reach goldcap if this continue. What happens when you hit 10M and can you not pick up gold in your mail at that point?
Also what do people do with the gold when they reach this amount?
Spend it.
Send it to alts? Or is 10M an account wide cap?

10M cap is not account-wide, just send it to a bank toon.
People just flip the AH. Buy a BoE for 200k, sell it for 700k and stuff like that.
i was gold capped in MOP and WOD when the cap used to be 999,999g 99s 99c.
If you have this much gold on your character you can still vendor stuff but you will not receive any gold. Not even in mailbox, nothing. The gold is just gone forever.
If you have any gold in mailbox or attempt to loot a mob - you won’t be able to pick it up. It will behave similarly to having full inventory. There is no error message associated with gold cap. There USED to be one “At gold limit” but that was in WOTLK and before (214k gold cap)
Simplest way is to simply make a bank alt and transfer the gold there.
You can have 18 characters on a single realm, so you can hold up to 180 million gold on characters alone. Then your alts can have their banking guilds where you get another gold cap space in the GB. If you somehow made it this high (very slim chances but i believe few ppl did reach this) you can ‘invest’ your gold into TCG mounts, rare battle pets etc.
That’s what much less rich people do anyway, as gold inflates and loses value over time. Things like TCG mounts are going up in value, as the last cards were printed 7 years ago and they’re getting increasingly difficult (and expensive) to buy. Back in MOP spectral tiger card was sth like 600 dollars, now it’s 10 times as much.

dont worry earning money is easy now since the demand is high for stuff. prices are already going down hard, and things selling less. I regret not being able to play the first several days, i missed alot of gold making chances, Even so i made 400k g yesterday just by farming leather esterday, and not everything is sold yet. Just taking your time to farm a bit will pay your subscription easily atm
You can never have too much really. Fill 50 alts (why is there still a cap on 50 btw??) and then fill gbanks etc.
Buy rare mounts, pets, tmogs, boosts, lvl professions, buy boes etc. I could probably spend a billion gold without any problems lol
